I did a quick check of Wonder Woman's presence in the entire run so far when it comes to the Wonderverse, and it's not an uplifting experience.

    Issue 1

First thing we see her is a shot right up Diana's cleavage while flying. Sexualised: 1

She comforts Superman inside Sanctuary and informs Batman about puddlers (one thing Batman doesn't know!). Empathy: 1; knowledge 1.

Closes the eyes of Wally West. Only other interaction with the dead bodies is Superman with Hotshot. Empathy 2.

    Issue 2

She argues with Batman about files from Sanctuary together with Superman. Unclear if she or Superman argues about the kryptonite in the Batbelt. Arguing: 1.

Poses while cornering Harley with really short battle skirt, chest out, and legs wide. Not the worst stance as power goes, but it still feels a lot like posing. Sexualised: 1.5.

Supposedly tries to connect with Harley, but gets her lasso stolen in WTF scene. Empathy 2.5; WTF 1.

Booth session is about Wonder Woman bottling things up, which has its own thread. WTF 2.

Tells Superman and Batman to stop bickering. Arguing 2.

    Issue 3

    Not present.

    Issue 4

Donna Troy cares for drunken Tempest and fellow Titan.

Donna discusses the mythical quality of the Illiad and Troy with no other context. Is this supposed to be meta commentary on how DC treats Donna? Commentary about how Donna feels? Donna discussing the philosophy of history and knowledge?

Diana interrogates Booster Gold with the lasso. Stands distant and emotionless from him. Arguing 3. (I'm tempted to reduce the empathy score…)

Diana becomes angry over Blue Beetle breaking out Booster Gold, smashes coin with shot up her ass from behind. Arguing 4; sexualised 2.5.

I get it to 1 knowledge moment, 2 WTF moments, 2.5 empathy moments, 2.5 sexualised moments, and no less than 4 arguing moments. No wonder Woman Woman feels out of character.

I'm not really surprised. If one read his first legit work with her in the Super Friends arc in Batman you knew nothing good was going to come from her in this series. Posing stuff aside which doesn't bother me(I just don't care about characters being put in somewhat sexy posses; if its not out and out gratuitous I don't care, but at the same time I'm sure what counts for gratuitous for me and others will differ. YMMV and this is mine). King has already established an unworking knowledge of WW overall. Yeah he once referenced Kanga but one obscure reference from the past doesn't mean you get a character. . He's another in a long line of writers who doesn't get her so in-story she does the absolute bare minimum and even that isn't really in-character.

King probably just google searched "Wonder Woman pet" and got "Kanga" as result.

Which is admirable. But I’ll just take the money and spend it on other comics that I will hopefully enjoy. There is always more stuff out there to buy.

If ten years of recording The Young and the Restless for my mother have taught me anything, it's that characters in serial dramas are always happily in love...until they're not

In fairness, NONE of the trinity have been especially effective. King writes them alternating between indecisive and flat out lame in order to make the story work.

The idea Superman would sit on evidence about the murder of friends is just baffling.

The sexy poses for Diana? Again, in regards to the female characters the book is full of them. I don’t think Diana gets it as bad as others, but the ass-shot of her knocking the Penny over was disappointing to say the least.

I had hopes this would read better than it sounded when I saw the spoilers. It did not. This one is a bit more surprising. He was bad with Wonder Woman from the start so I expected it. But he actually has a couple nice Superman appearances under his belt. Its to the point where I feel his writing on established DC heroes hits one of two marks: across the board bad, or Jekyl and Hyde.

I only just noticed it, but...

...Harley actually kicks away Wonder Woman. She doesn't just steal the lasso, she kicks Diana and knocks her backwards.

This is just so very, very badly written.

I start to wonder if Tom King should ever be let near Wonder Woman. She was visible in a total of four panels in Heroes in Crisis #5, not saying a single word, and in one of those panels all we saw was her hand. She was just there to be emotional support to Superman, but most of all she looks stiff. One could say something about that behind every great man there is a great woman, but without any single hint of self-awareness in the comic it just rings hollow.
