Another interview
Kind of repeating the same thing the previous interviews have said, what's different about this one is that they talk about not only the introductiom of new characters but how a new perspecrive will be given to old characters.

Also no one told me issue #2 contained dragons...
My priority is black female characters; everything else is secondary.

Are they dragons or cosmic lizards ?
Also, I can't open the link of the interview.
I guess they can be cosmic lizards to keep Naomi's world from looking too much like sword and sorcery.
Also things to note is the 2 characters with the red horned helmet thing covering their eyes look like their skin was ripping apart or melting away. Another character had dragon ...or rather lizard shaped feet, then there is the fact Naomi might have also came in a pod like Superman did, and last why or rather what was it about Superman that triggered that dream Naomi now sees.
The link works now but just in case https://blackgirlnerds.com/interview...ic-book-naomi/
Loved the first issue...found issue two to be a bit of a snooze-fest. They should have spent about 6 pages to tell the bulk of the story in that issue...and added a lot more story and pace to the issue.
I'm not giving up on the book...but that was a boring comic, overall.
This is a gorgeous spread! Is that baby Naomi I see?
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki
also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.
currently following:
- DC: Red Hood: The Hill
- Marvel: TBD
- Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force
"power does not corrupt, power always reveals."
It's not confirmed, but it's my theory, yes.
The synopsis for issue six which gives us nothing:
NAOMI #6
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS and DAVID F. WALKER
art and cover by JAMAL CAMPBELL
This is it, the end of the first season of NAOMI by the breakout collaboration of writers Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker and artist Jamal Campbell! With her origins finally revealed, Naomi embraces the journey ahead and charts a course for the future and her role.
I love this series. I like that they'll be doing a seasonal schedule, because it would be bad to have fill-in arcs by artists other than Campbell. His artwork is incredible.
That and changing writers. Hopefully they can keep Naomi consistent.
I'm really loving this book and enjoying the mystery as it unfolds too.
The art and character design is amazingly gorgeous. In terms of fashion and ethnic diversity and body diversity, etc. it's all so wonderful.
My brain is buzzing around the two fight sequence spreads in issue #2 and Naomi's interest/connection to Superman (considering he's the one fighting the Iron Heightsers solo and typically that's Flash's deal) when she just happens to see a pic of him when she searches for Iron Heights. So, hmmm... but maybe that's not a clue and more of a misdirect.
I definitely got a cosmic futuristic medieval dragon elf demon fantasy when looking at the other splash page battle. Perhaps we're getting a new take on Avalon or Otherland or something high fantasy extradimensional. That kinda of negates her connection with Superman though and an extraterrestrial vibe, but it'd be fairly new to the DCU, since The Books of Magic have mostly stayed in Vertigoland...
Just thinking out loud and having some fun with the impressions that have come to mind.
