You know I heard of Steve long before I got to read about him. First version I saw was the animated WW movie and then the Brave and the bold one. Only when Rucks took over in Rebirth did I read him. Even though I heard others talk about him with Diana it always seemed to me they were a perfect match.
I really missed Steve not being a huge part of the Post Crisis reboot, as it kind of made Diana a romance-less and sexless character for quite a while.
So, I was really happy to see him return and head ARGUS in the DCnU. Sadly, he wasn’t utilized very well in regards to Diana there either given the Super/Wonder romance and Azz doing his own thing with her in her own title, but at least the pieces were there to pick up at some point.
I’m glad he’s back and in the title more consistently, as I’m ready for a Steve renaissance and build him up with a lot more characterization. The time is right for them to be together and experience some dramatic ups and downs, sometimes of political and sociological significance.
Also, I favor him as part of the leadership of ARGUS and Diana “owning” ARGUS in the Wonder corner of the universe. It plays nicely with some of her past incarnations and gives plenty room for Steve to grow and change and expands the Wonderverse past mythology as the go to backdrop.
