👏Truth!!! Again trying to change things in order to fit other characters/dynamics just don’t have the same impact, unnecessary and disrespectful. What it says though, is that they do know the value of the SMWW dynamic, but just don’t like not understand why it’s their dynamic LOL

Taking it is an admission it worked. And it is blatant how they try to make human characters behave meta or put them in situations they could never survive because they are not meta nor had training eyc yet claim the heroes need only humans to be who they are. Typical double standards.

Superman is saddled with a outdated narrow view of one society. The “American Way” obviously means something totally different now. Superman disregarding his heritage, pretending to be a privileged human, dying by getting punched hard, grounding isn’t inspiring. If that was the case, with how much he has been grounded now, he would be much more relevant within and outside of comics, as well as the movie verse wouldn’t be such a mess.

Good point. They go on and on and on he needs this since Byrne...I don't think this was even an argument for the 50 something years before that ...yet we have a character that can't get audiences to relate to him fully despite this so called grounding. I would say it is done in a very ham fisted and thoughtless way and tries too much to envelop the whole character as oppose to it being a part of the many facets that make up who he is. I have zero probs with IDs or even human love interests if they are used when necessary and for good reason but when it is used to ridiculous assertions than does nothing for a character, that makes him less heroic and more selfish..what is the point? This applies to Diana too.

Exactly! This short sighted version of Superman is the Superman we suppose to love and accept. Suppose to be “real” yet struggling for relevance and can’t connect with a broader audience. Times have change and is moving forward. Superman and Wonder Woman were suppose to be the charcters that represents the changes but yet they are the ones saddled with going backwards, narrowed minded views being forced and stagnation. 🙄

It's a shame. But then they don't seem to know what to do with Superman. Keep Henry or not to keep is prob the dilemma. They actually rebooting Batman, giving him another chance yet want to shelf Superman and do Supergirl? Yikes that sucks. Goes to show you they care for Batman more. I can tell them what to do. Keep Henry. Henry's problem was not him but bad script and vision and lack of right motivations for Superman. Put him in WW3 and by then enough time would have lapsed it might wipe out the negative stuff surrounding him, will allow us to see him just deal with someone his equal, see Superman's admirable traits come to the fore...like a Thor/Hulk kind of team up...then give him his sequel and do Brainiac. Supergirl could come in at some point but more a Batman/Superman/SuperGirl comic situation imo would be good and of course Diana could help train her. Doing a Supergirl like TV is redundant and just rehashing SM's storyline. I know they said no connectivity atm but these things I suggested would take years anyway.

From my understanding, it's up to a potential future Superman's director deciding to keep Henry or recast. The character will be on hold till a director will pitch a solo movie to the Studio. At best, Supes can make a faceless cameo in WW3 like he'll do in Shazam! 😅

They don’t know what to do because they are stuck on trying to keep outdated stuff. LOL let it go. Not wanting to connect is just lazy. DC/WB seems to give up too easily. They ignore source material that works thinking they can revamp it or create something different that can be better. Once that falls apart, they can’t think of any other resolution but to just cut everything, take the easy way out and create more of a mess. That’s not how to run a business. That’s not how creativity works.

Not wanting to connect leaves more freedom to the directors that shouldn't bother what their characters are doing in other movies. One of the reason JL was rewritten was because it would've contradicted the continuity of other DCEU movies such as WW and AM.
