So we have Astro City, Jupiter's Legacy and maybe this The Boys?? whatever it is with SMWW analogues or parody/riff offs. Yet DC prefers to ignore SMWW stories or give away SMWW moments to other people. Well, I always said DC was a blinkered company. They actually going to do Red Son, they did Flashpoint, did Dark Knight returns...yet god forbid we have a standalone animated using SMWW stories ...the Zod of SMWW arc is dying to be adapted. On no, they would rather kill Superman every few years because apparently to be a hero you have to be able to punch the biggest one note brute the hardest. That is such a cliche. Nothing Superman does has not been done before and nowadays being done better because it is more about brain and heart and integrity and honor than I am the strongest. All heroes go into battle ready to die. Not only him. This space jesus thing has gotta stop. He has to be tested better now because you have heroes who have more complex battles and foes. His stories need to be better. Superman Doomed is better than Death of Superman story wise yet you won't see them do that. smh

I want to give a warning here: if the series The Boys is based on the comics then it has nothing to do with SMWW or any representation of them. In The Boys there are no heroes but representations of the worst in human beings but with powers ... they are represented by drug and sex addicts, beings without morality, compassion, piety, truth and honesty. As I said before, The Boys makes injustice seem like stories for children to sleep. Is it a valid representation of super powerful beings? Yes, it is valid, but we must bear in mind that in no way SMWW are represented there.

This is why Superman is struggling for relevance. What may have had relevance in the past is the past. Punching the hardest, having everyone look like chumps for a contrived overrated storyline, praising Superman for superficial reasons and as you said forcing this “space Jesus” thing, isn’t working. Dying doesn’t make Superman inspiring and indeed, we have difference persepctives, times have changed, interest have changed. We need more to show why we should care and be connected.

Yikes. Thanks for the heads up. I guess the only thing I can see is that it is the use of the superhero genre in other ways or not only going the same oft trod route. So while I know this is nothing to do with SMWW...it brings up the issue of DC and WB doing some of the more mature material they have something different to the usual campy corny CW stuff. I know they have Gotham and they doing the likes of Joker in movies etc...and we see Netflix doing really great series using heroes...I maintain we need a Kingdom Come adaptation at some point. We need DK2 and DK3 done. New Frontier could be done more fleshed out and more respecting of the source material as well...utilizing Cooke's 2 volumes and the Special. Fact is DC is sitting on stuff they could be doing properly and yet they insist on cliches. I know they tried with DCEU to do something darker but I always maintained tone was never the issue...was always about bad story telling, poor character development and rushed to try to compete with marvel. And in any case movies are supposed to be for a wider audience so better to stick to the core of the characters...and DC characters save Bats...are brighter. But TV and streaming they can take risk.

SMWW individual merch moves faster combined. SMWW is a year round celebration, big increase with the holidays especially. That should be taken note of.

The SMWW symbols combined is beautiful. It’s a symbol of love, respect and equality as it should be. Gosh darn it we really need a movie that exemplifies this!
