Superman and Wonder Woman Appreciation 2019

I have seen several people dissatisfied with the status quo and they are asking for new 52 as an AU and I have also seen, among these people, A LOT OF PEOPLE saying that they accept SMWW in an alternate universe as an alternative to their relationships that are now in rebirth or whatever like the current phase is called.

Stuff thrown that doesn’t actually make sense to make stuff work but it doesn’t however it’s expected that readers accept it anyway. As I’ve said, it would be different if SMWW wasn’t a success, but it was. So why not have it as an alternate/elseworlds to flourish with natural progression, no limitations nor contrivances, etc... Also, actually take heed to the diverse audience. Try to actually connect instead of forcing what they think is diversity.

DC comics should throw the Superman/ Wonder woman fans a bone and feature a title with Superman and Wonder woman as a couple again. In a Alt. universe!!

We have been saying this for ages now. Many smww fans would say if they did continued the new 52 earth it ala Earth 2 book or any of the other titles that they publish (that do not even sell high numbers from Injustice to Beyond), we'd be all for that.

There is enough room for canon and AU. The DC fandom is very diverse in its tastes and potential readers have no bias. Do you know how many people ADORE Kingdom Come? Tons. The people against this are a drop in the ocean. The amt of times fans ask the DCAU people when they are going to animate it I have lost count. KC has been deemed as one of DC's greatest. What we all would would like is smww get built progressively and evolve over time and given a chance to blossom. The AU tend to be one off stories in GN format and they do not get the in depth exploration we want. It amazes me DC allows Injustice this luxury but will not give it to positive versions of smww. Injustice is the story that imo helped muck up the Superman's image and influence the DCEU because it was a hit with gamers who did not always read canon or SM or WW comics and all think this is how SM truly is...he loses his status quo and is a villain in the making or WW is a conniving manipulator. DC needs to get a clue.

Ah so new 52 Superman and WW are still around eh? "Lies" still working hard for DC. I'm surprised they using them because technically they never existed.

Used for merch, still cosplayed, part of history period cited in encyclopedias, the actual books (of course) and represents DC at 6 Flags and Warner Bros.
New52 Superman and Wonder Woman brought a lot of opportunity and modern freshness much needed.

But don't you think that the New 52 didn't really explore their relationship that well... despite them even having a book together? The relationship just appeared with little build up, and if I recall correctly... it just quietly fizzled out. I'm not sure if there was even a reason given. I'm not really a Superman Wonder Woman shipper, but it seems to me the prospect of it was quite squandered by DC during the New 52, like a lot of things involving Superman really.

Anyway, uh... I just read Action Comics #600. Tons of Superman Wonder Woman in that, though I'm sure you lot already know that. It is a good comic.

AAAHHH. I love Charles and Tony and Batt. They were cut short and hijacked. Charles had stories to tell he did not get to tell. But it is wonderful to see they still have that affection for the title and understand the appreciation the fans have for their work...they still will sign and acknowledge the series every time. Unlike say Tomasi. What a shame Soule and Tony did not get to do more. Look at that beautiful Selfie cover. I felt Tony's art during the new 52 was outstanding. I pray one day Soule could come back to SMWW and tell what he wanted to tell. The fans miss them!!!

From Donna Troy, more about Hessia to Aaron Lord and Apollo vs Kal round 2. Charles was able to find the right balance between them, explore their difference and similarities without contrived forced drama. He answered why they mattered to each other, why we should care about them as individual characters and as a couple. Also, dealing with very “human” issues, such as family drama, Kal and Diana’s own thoughts, feelings, questions, fears etc that you would have developing a relationship but on a grander scale. Charles respected both of them as individual characters. As we’ve said, he understood the outsider aspect of them because he is an immigration lawyer. He also admitted to being nervous/intimidated writing them at first but obviously did not shy away. Charles should’ve gotten the fair opportunity to continue his story without limitations/derailments and that was the main problem.
Tony’s art was gorgeous! You really felt the investment, emotions conveyed, taking his time and was really having fun. The SMWW selfie and the “kiss in the storm” seems to be his most popular images.

It is absolutely wonderful to know that they miss them just as much as the fans. 🤗 Really hoping they get the chance again.

This is such a beautiful message to from a Superman to his Wonder Woman! ❤️ He is a pastor as well.

Given that there has been a lot of pastors and their wives connecting to Superman and Wonder Woman and referencing SMWW in the sermons as below for mother’s day, shows the spiritual connection SMWW has as we’ve talked about. It’s amazing.

Wonder Woman is the Mother and Superman the Father (of Superheroes) so of course! I believe there is not one special occasion/day/holiday SMWW won’t be referenced with!

“Golden Child” is coming up. But ideally a book continuing the new52 couple or digital anthology of them in different eras teaming up or a couple etc...would be grand!

Even if it's the less feasible scenario, I too would like to see the NuSM/WW story continuing. What we got was an Act 1 of a story, and I'd like to read the rest. 😏

Ah, yes! I remember the one you are talking about. I will try to find it again but as doing a search already there is actually a lot more SMWW references in different ministries, talking about relationship and individual motivation. Lots of pastors and their wives reffering to themselves as Superman and Wonder Woman too. 🤗

Their New52 costumes are still part of DC current canon and showed via flashbacks. Just recently, Superman appeared with his Jim Lee suit in the latest issue of Teen Titans. It looks he wore it for at least 11 years of his superhero career. 🤔

Their aesthetics used at six-flags "existed", it's everything else, the meaningful stuff, that is gone.

Doesn’t make any sense but have to just go with it. That’s not how storytelling should be. Cherry picking. Even with flashbacks, it doesn’t fit. More questions and plot holes created. It seems more and more DC should’ve created a seperate line. If they didn’t want new52 as main, make it the alternative, elseworlds but could’ve continued on its own way. There was no need to try to mish mash.

The meaningful stuff matters or should obviously.
