I think this can be added to their moments.

It’s small yet very impactful and a moment as Hellacre said: makes you realize how already humanized they are just by being themselves because they are good kind people with a conscience and being connected as friends, allies and lovers.

Heroes in Crisis initial premise sounded very interesting. However, the execution hasn’t been very good and quite controversial. The murder mystery plot has been dragging.

Though, quite surprisingly, the reaction to Superman’s speech(even though a bit conflicting) and Wonder Woman’s silent support are still more leaning to positive highlights. It is not without faults as we’ve addressed such as Diana needing to speak privately to Clark before the conference or speaking to the public. But just that small moment alone conveyed so much emotion outweighing the faults.

Here is an excerpt from a review:

“Is it a real surprise when I say that Clay Mann is the MVP of this series? While most fans will gawk at Mann’s gorgeous linework and beautiful splash pages, true to form Mann brings this emotional roller coaster to life. My personal favorite character work from Mann is Wonder Woman touching Superman’s hand during his speech. It’s such a small moment but when you see Superman struggle to continue his speech, he claps his hands unsure of his words and it’s only through Diana’s touch that he’s able to recompose himself. This one page makes Superman feel more human than the previous issue. Even though I’m still split on the Sanctuary recordings showing up, Mann’s character work is on it’s best here. Some of these stories hit harder than others but they all have some kind of emotional impact thanks to Mann’s pencils. The slight changes in facial expressions to small changes in how their hands move or how subtly they move their hands.”

Wow that is interesting, isn't it? It is also telling this is the ONE page we smww fans agree that was the first genuine smww moment in all of Rebirth. Two years plus and what we got we all felt were shallow and just attempts to use WW as a mouthpiece. They want to claim they are friends when they showed nothing of the sort. This is actually a genuine interaction between two friends' colleagues... and others can see it too.

I wonder if Clay and King could ever guess that this page would have the impact it did?

    Right! 😌
That’s all it really took. One genuine moment that honors their years of closeness to show how valued their dynamic is. Their relationship/bond is more than just romance. It’s these kind of moments, moments of realness, moments that really dig into the emotions that matter.

I don’t think so because again, the dynamic in general seems to be underestimated. Trying to force whatever so called friendship rebirth tried but still kept them strangely distant didn’t make any sense.

LoveStar would suggest a SM/WW crossover with Disney. 😅

That canon is where Clark and Diana are super close, had a brief romantic interest in each other before he hooked up with Lois, never pursued it ( had one interrupted date) because Clark felt he was only a farmboy and not good enough for a princess. He admitted as much a few times in canon. Diana was also very green having only recently debuted in the world and admitted too she knew little but expected much. But over time they cultivated the sweetest friendship, that on and off had flare ups of those unresolved feelings.

Anyway this was from Absolute Power by Jeph Loeb. He did a Superman/Batman run. In this arc ...it is a an alternate timeline plot...Batman and Superman are raised by The Legion of Super Villains and became dictators. They destroy any opposition to themselves ( even friends) and rule the world. They are with Lois and Selina even though they are bad versions. Diana is on the good side with the Freedom Fighters. In a battle she kills Batman and Superman in rage fights her and uses her lasso to strangle her. Basically BM and SM are tossed into many different timelines and have to fight to get their own timeline back. They succeed but they recall everything that happened and what they did. Clark recalls he killed Diana and he felt the need to contact Diana. He never tells her why and what happened but he needed to see her alive. It haunted him to think he could kill his best friend. She and he had been having some little issues too ( which would lead up to Sacrifice and Infinite Crisis) but she re affirms that they will always be friends no matter what. I agree with Lovestar is it s favorite moment of many smww fans because it shows that although they killed other Leaguers etc...it was Diana Clark needed to reach out to the most. The art makes it too because even while Kal and Diana speak, it's as if Batman is just a shadow. It is about them and their bond and how important it is to Clark and probably a foreshadowing about the deep rift that occurred between them post Sacrifice...how much it would hurt them both.

Pre Crisis. The time Barry notices the look on Kal's face when Diana leaves the League and mentions he always felt they would marry one day.

Eros hitting them with arrows. Lol that was hilarious. And very cute.

    Then Post Crisis/ Preflashpoint.

    Their "date" .

Clark coming to give Diana some support and fixes her cape and her telling him she would always love him for it.

There is a comic where they meet up as Clark and Diana in a park. It's rather sweet and wistful interaction.

League of One has tons of moments. And yes the one where he resuscitates her , (his face when he thinks she is dead) and then their talk.

Midsummer's Nightmare. The JL forget who they are and think they are regular civilians. Clark is sent to wake Diana up. She is a school teacher and he puts his hand out to her to step off a balcony to him...she asks him how can she trust him...and he says...you know. She puts her hand in his.

Our Worlds At War. There are a number of very telling smww moments in that event. Some are one panels , other a page or a moment but it shows how important they are to each other and how much SHE understands his burdens and responsibilities when he is faced with having to be the hero and sacrifice. From her telling him to not worry about what came before and to just focus on what was to come, him carrying her injured to Hippolyta, to him thinking she was dying, to him and her attending a memorial etc Just moments where you can see that in times like those Clark needed Diana and vice versa.

Clark comforting Diana after Hippolyta's death.

Clark and Diana sit on a roof I think after Batman's death and they talk about their mortality etc.

Sparring scene where he says she never ceases to amaze him.

There is an issue where she is with Superboy and they look after an injured Clark and then all three fight the baddies together. Some cool moments

Pain of the Gods...the story does show an angle again when they are each other's main emotional support and even J'onn knows this.

Circe mind controls Clark and Diana fights him. There are many stories actually of Diana and the lasso able to get through to a mind altered Clark.

Spirit of Truth. Their scene where they talk about their missions and goals etc and share coffee.

Kingdom Come...That farm yard scene, the passion scene, the marble scraping steel scene, the giving him his glasses and kiss and the Epilogue.

The New Frontier. The flight in the sky and talking about leadership. The "there is the door spaceman"

Dk3. The reuniting scene after the big battle. Kal kissing her while holding jonathan

The Kingdom. The birth of jonathan.

Distant Fires. "Nothing to blush about darling", scene

    New 52.

Those that Lovestar mentioned esp the I love you one.

    The gift of time

Double date with Mera and Arthur. The page where they get late in that Annual. The story by Fisch was good too.

Clark catching Eros bullet in the Valentine's Day Special.

Clark dealing with Apollo and the Gods.

The Clark/Orion encounter was fun too.

The kiss in the stadium. Chasing the plant lol. The ending of issue 12

The scene where she tells him to go and bring DD head. lol

Breakfast in Smallville. The walk in the field. Batman perving...lolololol

I liked the way Diana supported Clark in Trinity War.

I did not like the way Tomasi brought in necessary tension but Diana's whole supportive attitude in Truth was good even if Clark behaved ooc at times. Issues 18 19 and 20 were strong The lying in bed and being his sentinel was a great moment as was flying him and taking out the bullets etc.

There are so many moments through out the decades. Makes you realize how already humanized they are just by being themselves because they are good kind people with a conscience and being connected as friends, allies and lovers.
    Ah, the memories...

There are also a lot of good moments in the story "A day in our lives" published in Sensation Comics #48.

It’s such a missed opportunity if they don’t have a talk. It seems to be a lot of serious moments undercut in general.

If only King was able to write an exchange between them that has the same impact of the panel of them touching their hands...
