Ooh, this is just brilliant
I'm sick and tired of WB disrespecting Hans Zimmer's contribution to music for Superman that can be considered iconic at this point. spoilers:end of spoilers
Saw Shazam! and they used John Williams again -_-

David Goyer on the Man of Steel sequel. An interview last year...
Braniac (Blake Ritson) is Krypton’s main villain for the first season, the first time he’s appeared in live-action. Goyer said if they had done Man of Steel 2 instead of Batman v Superman, moviegoers might have seen Braniac then.
“He might’ve been if there had been a direct sequel,” Goyer said. “He made sense because his backstory is also related to Krypton.

I'm not even really mad. I can sort of understand it. I personally wouldn't mind a combination/mash up of the two themes, because basically they are sort a kinda merging Donner and DCEU Superman it seems, but it is disappointing they won't even alude to a motif. I guess if we do get another Superman film anytime soon it'll probably be a riff of a continuation of Donner continuity or style. I don't particularly like it because it isn't like they are going to force Batman or Wonder Woman to revert to previous incarnations, but I'm sort of resigned to it now.
When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?
SUPERMAN is the greatest fictional character ever created.
I like both. Zimmers I like more. Its IMO the better song. But Williams is better for quick recognition. You just need a second of it and the world knows "Superman!". Its more in your face. Zimmer has a longer build up; its more nuanced. I really hope in an upcoming MoS it will have more prevalence again but can co-exist with the Williams song.
Practically I did not even recognized the song either. Probably was just to surprised from the appearance to listen to the track accompanying it :P
You are correct about the Williams being more insta recognition. It's almost always going to be a short hand for WB even when other great music exists.
