Yeah it's just the eyes,to remind us and SB where he comes from (lex always the egomaniac asshole).

The animation does make most look the same.

Lex treats SB like crap in this film, and SB just takes it,and keeps control over himself really well.im glad he said enough is enough.

Has anyone noticed how all the different versions of SB are syncing up,but not all the same way,so it still makes them seem very far from what the other is?

Just watched Reign of the Superman, really loved Superboy but didn't feel like he or any of the other Supermen really got enough screen time or character development. Question for the fans - obviously they're different continuities, but is this Superboy the same character as the Superboy from the Young Justice cartoon? Because they look nothing alike.

In theory, the Superboy in "Reign of the Supermen" and "Young Justice" is the same character. In the same sense that Superman is Clark in both versions too.

The thing is Superboy has some big changes in comics. Young Justice Superboy is similar to Johns Superboy, while Reign Superboy is similar to Kesel Superboy.

Although these versions are still different from the versions they are based.

    Yes and no

Here is a quick list of things different, but the same

Both are roughly as strong and durable as the other

Reign has flight and heat vision
YJ has super hearing and infra red vision

Both like black.reign wears it throughout his supersuit, gloves and jacket,YJ wears black shirt and black gloves

Both cloned from lex,and half his "son",same for superman

    Reign cocky and horny attitude
    YJ (1st released)overconfident and has a temper

    Reign is roughly 14-15
    YJ is roughly 17-18

Both lived with the Kent's(between season 1 and 2 of YJ and beginning at the end of the Reign movie

Reign has preprogrammed 'matrix like' fighting skills
YJ brute force, over time trained to actually fight

    Reign likes ALL females
    YJ only loves mgann

Reign lived and worked with and for lex
YJ went straight to live in happy harbor with the team

    Neither has TTK(which is BULLSHIT)

When Reign SB finds out he is part lex it doesn't bother him much
When YJ SB found out he was part lex he dreaded it and kept it secret for awhile

Neither are top tier,so they both get their asses handed to them a lot,but they BOTH dont stay down and they keep fighting

All they want to be "at 1st"is be superman

    Reign wisecracks while he fights
YJ stays on mission, but talks shit sometimes, even when he knows he is losing

Reign was instantly approved and taken in by superman
YJ superman didnt know how to feel about SB and it took him awhile to be ok with him, then treat him like family

Reign is all about the spotlight
YJ is low key and secret mission specialist

They both jump in head 1st,no matter what the deal is

Neither likes to be told what to do

    Reign wears cool supersuit attire
YJ wears the same clothes all the time

Reign so far can still age
YJ cant age and forever "looks" like a 17-18 year old, when now he is around 26

    Hope that helps

Why is Johns Superboy so different from Kesel (are these writers? Artists?) Superboy?

Kesels and geoffs are so different because of 1 thing,Geoff wanted SB his way,so he made him his way,end of story.

We need to build a unified idea of who, what, and where for SB,and stick with it going forward, that is how you build a IP with staying power.

Yeah. Johns changes a lot about Superboy. If I'm not mistaken Kesel Superboy wasn't a clone of Clark.

Now, you realize that a consistent idea of Superboy for the future will surely have the clone of Clark-Lex origin and kryptonian powers, while the TTK will probably be relegated (or even totally ignored), right?

They already have "instituted" the lex=Clark hybrid origin across every form of media,so it is here to say,and I'm ok with that, they just did a great job if it with the Reign movie,so all cool there.

Kryptonian powers for every version is "instituted" as well already, atleast in some level, cause some are lower levels than others,BUT they all have them, and I'm cool with that also.

Reign is pretty much my go to "classic" SB,the one that got me to be a insane fan that I am,but YJ was such a great character,I learned to like him just about as much.there needs to be a middle ground between the 2,that's where I'm at,that's my sweet spot.

And yeah TTK should be with EVERY version of SB regardless of circumstances or how long without them it has been.it is powerwise what makes him different than superman.i don't think ppl get that SB is a clone who is already at a disadvantage, and yeah that's for a fully powered one also, because he was released as a teen.you saw how a punch from him barely rocked eradicator,he is many times weaker than a full grown kryptonian.now add in IF he never ages.can you imagine a kid who knows he was supposed to be the next supermen, but relegated to a smaller and weaker clone that will never age, which means never get the chance to fulfill his dream of being supeman.having TTK as this superBOY gives him that shot, while still having his "forever teen" dilemma.just imagine how that fight with eradicator would have went with TTK,could you see SB actually taking down eradicator or atleast being a closer match? Eradicator took every thing SB had(and he had a lot) and still just grabbed him by the throat and tossed him like a rag doll, then beat him almost to death,do you see how TTK could have evened the playing field.

Btw taking SBs TTK away is liking taking green arrows bow and arrow away, batman's utility belt away,GLs ring away, its that ingrained in who SB is.

We don't know if Reign Superboy has a "forever teen" dilemma, he may grow and become stronger. Also, I don't know if a teen krytonian raised in the Earth will be more powerful that Reign Superboy (Is this say in the film?).

In the case of YJ Superboy, the writers do not want to make Superboy too powerful, that is the reason that their powers are not complete.

At the end, the disadvantage of Superboy will depend on the writers. If they want him to be so powerful as any teen kryptonian raised in the Earth, they will make him that powerful. So, the writers doesn't need the TTK if they want Superboy to be extremely powerful.

PS: I really like TTK power, I just mention that writers don't need this power to make Superboy pretty powerful.

I know all that stuff, but im talking about the BIG picture, not each individual version and what their writers wanted to do with him.

I'm saying every version should have TTK,and so far the 2 most present versions are YJ and Reign, and they both are less powerful than their adult kryptonian counterparts, and 1 is stuck age wise, and is looking to "step up" so what better way to do that than to gain the only power trademarked by a hero TTK.

they are the same character and those changes he had in the same continuity

beyond the writers (Geoff Johns and Karl Kesel) I feel that the change of personality that had conner was due to tragic events that he lived (the death of tana moon, Titans / Young Justice: Graduation Day, knowing what half of his DNA it's from lex luthor) for good or for bad all that contributed to his character development

Is it just me or does it look like the sides of his head are shaved as well, ala the 90s haircut?

Yeah, but what's with the remarkable difference in build? Even taking artistic license into account, it's hard to believe he could look anything like the Reign version and wind up looking anything like the YJ version. Was there a reason for it in story, or just all of a sudden bam high school football star build. I kind of thought at first it was like a Dick/Jason/Tim situation, sure each was a Robin, but not the same guy. Kon being the same Superboy and looking so different is kind of surprising for someone who hasn't followed the character in comics.

If you read Peter David's later issues of Young Justice, Kon gets noticeably bigger even before Johns' run with Titans. There's a workroom that Kon benches with his ttk. I'll post some pics later. That period was kind of a transition for Kon visually.
