    Flash Annual #3
    (1) – Quite possibly the worst comic book art I’ve ever seen. Main story was mediocre, but important, plot-wise. Backup story was worse.
Flash #29-39 (11) – After mediocre fill-in issue 29, the series finally starts to settle down, and turn towards what will become the status quo, with Wally getting better acquainted with Pied Piper and Linda Park, moving to Keystone City, and facing some long forgotten foes of the two previous Flashes.
Flash Special #1 (1) – Nice tribute to all 3 Flashes, and introduction of a 4th (not THE 4th), 27th century Flash. Also Mark Waid’s first time writing for Flash, I think.
Suicide Squad #13-15 (3) – #13 is SS vs Justice League International. Since I don’t have the JLI issue that goes with this, and some of it ties into stuff in other comics (Captain Atom’s solo series, apparently), I missed part of the story. Issues 14-15 are the first two parts of the three parter that seems to have inspired much of the plot of the SS movie. I don’t have the third part. Overall, this series is kind of hit or miss for me, and I wasn’t overly impressed with these three issues, which are the last that I own. I haven’t decided if I want to buy the back issues to keep reading this series.
Superman: Time and Time Again TPB (10) – Superman accidentally bounces around in time, meeting 3 different time periods of the Legion of Super-Heroes, FDR, dinosaurs, and Merlin in Camelot. An ok story, but I’m not really a huge Supes fan, and it’s not particularly special or anything.
Wonder Woman 10-13 (4) – Challenge of the Gods.

So apparently, I've had a lot of free time this week.

    Previous read count: 314

    Wonder Woman #20
    (1) – “Who Killed Myndi Mayer?” – Surprisingly good single issue story.
Wonder Woman Annual #2 (1) – Flashbacks and short stories. Nothing special.
Superman #44, Adventures of Superman #467, Action #654 (3) – Dark Knight over Metropolis – Three parter - Batman and Superman investigate an enemy who found out Superman’s secret identity and stole Lex Luthor’s kryptonite ring.
Flash #40-44 (5) – This series just continued to get better as it progressed.
Wonder Woman #42, 55, 71 (3) – Random issues I picked up at some point. Since they’re part of larger stories that I’m mostly missing, they were mostly just confusing. Only read them now because I’m trying to be a completionist in rereading every comic I own. Eventually, I’d like to go back and pick up the rest of this run, so I have all the issues that go with these, and can read them in context.
The Death of Superman TPB (7) – One gigantic action sequence, with nothing even remotely resembling a plot.
World Without a Superman TPB (9) – Superman’s funeral and setup for Reign of the Supermen. Much better than the death story.
The Return of Superman TPB (22) - Surprisingly good, given that it comes from the weak "death" story.
Flash #45-47 (3) – Continuing William Messner-Loebs’ run, which got better and better the longer it went.

    Ambush Bug Nothing Special
    (1) – Frankly, I’m embarrassed to own this. I think I got it from a quarter discount bin in the mid-90s, because the cover looked mildly amusing. Definitely going in my “sell” pile.
Flash #48-52 (5) – You know how I keep saying that Messner-Loebs’ run kept getting better as it progressed? Well, that didn’t hold up over the long run. These weren’t quite as good as the issues that came before. Not terrible, but a definite decrease in quality of pacing and storytelling.
Flash Annual #4 (1) – Eh, not terrible, but nothing special.
Flash #53-61 (9) – The last, and best, issues of William Messner-Loebs’ run. #53 is an important issue, historically, while #54 was my absolute favorite of M-L’s run.
Flash #62-68 (7) – Mark Waid’s run writing the series starts with the fun Flash: Year One, showing the summer Wally became Kid Flash at 10 years old. The Aquaman crossover in #66 had a great cover, but was probably Waid’s worst issue. Following that was a pretty good two parter featuring old villain Abra Kadabra.
Flash Annual #5 (1) – Confusing Eclipso crossover, weird art.
Green Lantern #30-31, Flash #69-72 (6) – “Gorilla Warfare” crossover, where Flash and GL team up to face Hector Hammond and Gorilla Grodd, followed by the intro of a new Dr. Alchemy.
Flash #73-76, Green Lantern #40, Flash #77-79 (8) – The Return of Barry Allen! IMHO, the greatest Flash story ever, possibly even the greatest superhero story ever. I wondered if I would still feel that way rereading it all these years later, but it holds up. It really is that good.
Flash Annual #6 (1) – Not bad. Bloodlines Annual introduced new hero, Argus
Flash #80-83 (4) – Wally visited by his old Titans buddies

    Previous read count: 411

    Aquaman: Time and Tide #1-4
    (4) – I had forgotten how intense and dark this series is. But thanks to Peter David’s writing, there’s humor, as well.
    Flash #84-91 (8) – Continuing Mark Waid’s great run
Superboy #1-2, 4 (3) – Apparently, my tastes have matured. Back then, I found this series amusing. Now, it’s going straight on my “sell” pile. The weird part is that I stuck with it for around 30 issues, which I’ll read eventually, since I’m being a completionist about rereading my whole collection.
Flash Annual #7 (1) – Year of the Elseworlds annuals. I don’t mind the occasional Elseworlds story if it’s an interesting sounding idea that I want to check out. But forcing every series to have one as an annual that year just led to some mediocre ideas. This is one of those. I only own it because I decided to be a completionist about owning the ENTIRE Flash series, including annuals and related specials.
Flash #92-94 (3) – The return of Iris Allen, and introduction of Bart “Impulse” Allen!
Zero Hour TPB (7) – When I was first getting into comics, I read my friends’ copies of this as single issues, and had no idea who most of the characters were. Now that I’ve read a LOT more DC comics and know the characters and everything, it made a lot more sense. I’m still not a huge fan of these mega-crossovers, though.
Flash #0 (1) – The aftermath of Flash “dying” in Zero Hour #4. This one holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first Flash issue I ever bought. In fact, it may even be the first comic book I ever bought myself. Previously, I had maybe half a dozen random comics that my parents bought me as a kid. But I started collecting comics seriously during DC’s “Zero Month”, when all their series had #0 issues that were supposed to be good introductions for new readers, and this was published in that first week of Zero Month.
Flash #95-100 (6) – Terminal Velocity. I always liked this story, even if the Speed Force it introduced (technically, it was mentioned a few issues before this) always seemed hokie.
Who’s Who in the DC Universe #12 (1) – I actually forgot I own this, since it’s not normal comic size, so I had it off to the side. Wanted to read it now for the cover story on Aquaman, since I’m about to start reading his ongoing series that started in 1994. Speaking of which…
Aquaman #1-2, 0 (3) – Start of Peter David’s run. I didn’t stick with this one very long at the time, but if it’s good, maybe I’ll pick up back issues/trade paperbacks to read the rest.

    Read since last update: 37
Read so far this year: 448

Up next: I have a ton of post-Zero Hour DC, so I'll be jumping around from series to series a lot more, while still continuing the extended run of Flash. But I'll put the Legion and Bat-books aside and tackle them as independent from the rest at a later time.
Just re-reading my old collection, filling in the occasional gap with back issues, not buying anything new.

Currently working my way through 1990's Flash, Impulse, and JLA, and occasional other related stuff.
