Hal has always been my all-time favorite DC superhero, but Johns made him even more awesome during his GL run.

Johns made Hal relevant again. That was the most important aspect of that run to me.

I was not a fan when Hal didn't show up after Roy's bad habits returned, he was at his funeral but he should've come back to have a chat with him given all the history. They can "correct" that with Wally.

i was hoping to see hal when heroes in crisis was first announced. but not so much now.

i do agree that hal should have been seen though considering his ties to wally and roy. hal and his title feels like he's so distant from the rest of the dcu.

I concur. I can imagine how Uncle Hal encourages Wally, telling him something like "I went back from that, you can do that too".
Although it seems not possible since Hal's schedule is full.

I do feel like him being kept in deep space is the constant excuse as to why he's always absent from the heroes' Earthly affairs, but there are still times Hal unexpectantly shows up even though he isn't supposed to be there. His appearances in Bendis' Superman run are more recent examples of that.

I just realized that I don’t think Hal even remembers Wally .

    That's a sad thought.

But shouldn't Hal be able to when Wally got back?
