He thought he would be a super star when he got the chance to lead the movie. And that film bombed which gave him a hard hit and made him pretty unhirable. Also he got anxiety disorder after that. So unleashing his depression on a comic book character must be the best way he can come out with to show he becomes successful now.
Truth.
Frankly he was much worse in both Blade Trinity and Wolverine Origins... but for someone who doesn't want to be tied to a property he sure does bring it up a lot.
That seems off. Checking out IMDB, he has had between 2 - 5 movies come out every year since 2011. I WISH I could be as 'unhirable' as he was.
I'm sure he'd make fun of RIPD a lot more if anyone actually remembered that one.
If the "GLC" movie ever does get made, we'll certainly hear a lot from him - he'll probably make sure "Deadpool XXX" comes out that same weekend. (and no, I don't mean "Deadpool 30" I mean that he'll make hardcore Deadpool porn and get it released just to screw with GLC)
Tom King is rather controversial these days but I'd like to see him write GL again down the line.
Isn't Green Lantern where he met his wife (Blake Lively)? You'd think he'd appreciate it from that alone.
I thought this was a really strong issue. King works better on one-shots or mini-series but I also think what helped this book is that, compared to some of his other work, it was more optimistic and "brighter."
I think the jokes may have hurt the GL property more than the movie itself. Look at the more recent Justice League failure none of the characters in that got blacklisted like Hal, Batman is still getting a reboot, Aquaman and Wonder Woman movie franchises are still going strong, Cyborg rebounded quickly with Doom Patrol, Flash already had the tv show to fall back on and Superman’s doing pretty well in the animated dvd movie department.
Edit. Nevermind.

I thought it was interesting that King's Hal and King's Kyle both tackled some religious stuff. It was pretty baked into the premise (The Omega Men, and the New Gods), but hey, it still seemed noteworthy. I wonder if he did a John or Guy story if they would.
I'm loving Morrison's GL and really digging Snyder's use of John in JL so I'm not itching to see either thing get changed for a while, but I think ideally I'd like to see the Green Lantern line placed under the writing duo of King & Seeley. Seeley started doing interesting things with Jessica and Simon, King has done some neat bits of Hal and Kyle, I'd like to see them world-build that a bit. (Seeley is also a champion follow-up-act player with Morrison concepts.)
Retro315 no more. Anonymity is so 2005.
