Y'know, that's interesting to ponder about...who had Sector 2814 before Abin Sur did?

I can't remember who Abin got his ring from, but Abin Sur was the GL of 2814 during the Old West. Steven Grant & Mike Zeck did a great story about it years ago.

I need to read this .

(I underestimated how old Abin Sur is).

It's a fun story. It's actually a trilogy of stories. The first is a team-up between Abin Sur & Hal's US Marshal great-grandfather by Zeck, the second is a Silver Age GL/Atom team-up with Gil Kane art and then it finishes with Kyle with art by Scott Kolins. Steven Grant writes the whole thing.

That hairline is just something else. I still have a full set of hair and I envy this guy more than probably any other fictional character. lol
