Not sure. To be honest I didn't even know that Hal's identity was apparently made public after his death.

I don't know how it could have been since know one outside Hal's circle seemed to know who Green Lantern was when he came back, unless the Spectre did something like he did when he restored Wally's secret identity.

It makes you wonder how long Johns was planning on redeeming Hal during his tenure at DC before he actually got a chance to do it.

Perhaps as soon as his original pitch was approved. According to Ethan Van Sciver, Peter Tomasi was the one who originally suggested to bring Hal back and asked Johns to pitch the story, since Tomasi was the GL editor back then. Johns was really starting to gain traction at the time and it was obvious they wouldn't trust just any writer with a story like that. Even in this image you can tell that Johns held Hal in high regard and you can see why Tomasi thought he was the right man for the job.

Yes. I think the cover date says November 2000. Hal was the Spectre at the time I believe.

The solicitations for Morrison and Sharp's finale of 'season one' just dropped, which teased a big shake up of some kind. Presumably, there won't be much new information for a while so as not to spoil that story.
