I don't know if Morrison expected the Cuckoos to be consistently used the way they have been after his run; but it has also helped secure Emma as a central figure amoung the X-Men. Even when she isn't there he presence is felt through them.

The variant cover for Maurarders #1 has the team springing into action sans Emma. Covers can be misleading of course, but I think this might support the theory of her running things in the background

Yeah, I noticed that too, now I'm a little concerned. She's also the one with the solo cover. I don't know if I'd grab the book if its just her popping in every couple issues. Will probably have to wait to see the next set of solicits if it is a concern.

The point is the variants make it look like she won't actually be on the boat, and possible not in the book very much.
