We need better comics
I can’t say the Korvoc saga was a favourite of mine but my favourite Avengers period was also around #150-#166 starting with a new lineup, the return of Wonderman, stories involving the Whizzer, the Sub-Mariner, Dr Doom, Return of Hank Pym as Ant-Man and villains like Atuma, Graviton, the Grim Reaper, Ultron, the Lethal Legion and Count Nefaria. Solid writing by Jim Shooter backed up by great art from the vastly underrated Sal Buscema, George Perez and John Byrne.
It had also probably my favourite Avengers lineup ever.
Iron Man
Captain America
Thor
Vision
Scarlet Witch
Wonderman (unofficial member)
Beast
BlackPanther
Wasp
YellowJacket
That lineup, plus Hawkeye and Mockingbird, and minus Cap, Tony and Thor (who are, IMO, over-used), would be close to my ideal 'classic Avengers' lineup.
It is a little sad how the 'power couples' of the Avengers, Wanda and Viz, Hank and Janet, and Clint and Bobbi have all broken up.
I could have picked several I chose disassembled because no one else would. It shook things to the core and I like that.
Finally read Avengers#1 to 6 by Jason Aaron in TPB and i liked it.
Art wise no complains, how could i complain with so many stellar illustrations of giant Celestials in cinematic pages with the new team of Avengers along side.
And ever since Attlantis Attack i liked stories that referenced the far past of the Marvel stories,so this new take of the Celestials is intriguing to say the least.
Looking forward to the second Avengers by Aaron TPB and i will be picking up Avengers starting with issue#13 in the singles issues.to keep up with this ongoing.
Cool news for the FCBD issue.

Pretty awesome to see Blade still with the group on the cover - maybe that means he'll be sticking around past the Vampire War.
Also, Caselli's art is always a welcome sight. Will look forward to seeing what story Aaron has cooked up for him to illustrate.
With how FCBD stories usually are, I expect this will feed into the next big arc for Aaron.
Really stoked to see what Duggan and Deodato have planned. Sounds like a new Avengers title from those two. As Duggan's Uncanny Avengers was one of my favorite Avengers runs, I'm all for giving him a new Avengers book to run with. And the description of Duggan's team as being "the most unique, dynamic, and deadly versions of the Avengers ever" certainly piques my interest!
Can't wait to hear more!
How many blood sacrifices and snorted sulfur will it take to get Falcon in a Duggan/Deodato Vengies book? #FreeHydraCap
I don't blind date I make the direct market vibrate
Duggan's book is almost certainly New Avengers with LGY #166. No Road Home has some variants which in previews mistakenly use that numbering.

First Avengers issue I ever bought was
Avengers #108 (February 1973), but then I also started buying
Marvel Triple Action #9 (February 1973) which reprinted the story from Avengers #15 back in 1965.
As to favorite Avengers epic, too many to really pick a "favorite", but some early ones I really enjoyed was the Avengers/Defenders crossover where the two teams were battling to collect the pieces of the "Evil Eye", as well as the long arc involving the Phantom Empire, the Squadron Supreme, the Serpent Crown, and a little side-trip Thor, Moondragon, Immortus, and Hawkeye made back to 1873 where they teamed-up with Kid Colt, Night Rider (previously Ghost Rider and later renamed Phantom Rider), Rawhide Kid, Ringo Kid, and Two-Gun Kid.
