I bought all the single and double issue reprints of EC from Gladstone/Ross Cochran/Gemstone in the '90s. Consequently, I've never felt the need to buy the collected editions.

A cheap source (i.e. free) for reading '50s horror are the public domain sites--Comc Book Plus and the Digital Comic Museum. You can't read anything that's not in the public domain (like EC), but there's a lot of other horror comics available on those sites.

Id like to order some from Cochran's site myself. Shame that the first few issues of Crypt are sold out, guess thats to be expected though. The new collected editions seem nice but I prefer the old coloring style I guess.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to check them out.

This is my favourite genre. I am really fond of Warren comics. I read it in my childhood, some of them were definitely not suitable for a twelve years old, but others had a remarkable sense of awe like Peter Hypnos a kind of dark and surrealistic fantasy very much to my liking. And the author is a Spaniard like myself.
Dracula by Wolfman and Colan I like it too, specially the art.

Ive been reading a comic series based on the classic Archie comic character, called Afterlife with Archie. It puts a total spin on the original storyline and is alot of fun, basically the Archie characters are in a Night of the Living Dead scenario. You can tell how much of a horror fan Francesco Francavilla is, nearly every page is full of pulp-comic moodiness. Really reminds me of some older EC comics.

I enjoyed the 1st volume of Afterlife with Archie too, although towards the end of the volume the novelty was wearing off for me. Still, if Francavilla keeps doing the art I'll probably keep picking it up.

Speaking of artists, I'd like to see Frazer Irving do some pure horror comics, I always enjoy his art and it frequently has horror elements in it (Klarion, Xombi, the Dread Dormammu arc of Uncanny)

I love Frazer Irvings art. Xombi was great, but i think it didnt sell very well or came out near the weird transition period when DC rebooted everything. Irving did technically do one horror comic based on Mary Shelleys Frankenstein. Plus I think Necronauts may be in that same vein as well.

His earlier 2000AD work is awesome, and frequently horrific. Ghost already mentioned Necronauts, but there's also A Love Like Blood, Judge Death: My Name is Death and a bunch of 5-6 page Future Shocks/Terror Tales stories.

I'd throw Storming Heaven in there, too. I know it's nominally a psychedelic superhero story, but it's so tripped out and dark than it veers more into horror territory for me. If you pick up the Storming Heaven: The Frazier Irving Collection tpb, you also get A Love Like Blood and Fall From Grace, a story about fallen angels that's Irving's first collaboration with Si Spurrier.
