It was BEN and Reed that met in college. Sue's several years younger than those two. Basically you have Sue and Ben's ages the wrong way around.

Fraction made Reed, Sue, and Ben the same age.

I think they still kept an age gap, just not a big one.

The latest mention in Future Foundation about Reed's PhDs while a boy makes his and Ben (and Vic) in college kind of awkward to work out.

Reed and Sue started out as Reed looking older than Sue (who had a few years on Johnny). How they met was left for a while but Byrne's scene with Reed and an underage Sue seemed creepy, even if there was no romantic ties funtil Sue was of age.

So how do we set up Sue, Ben, and Reed to keep what was necessary to their relationship and update it for 21st century sensibilities?

I'd still have Reed, Ben, and Vic meeting that first year at State. A VIP dorm for athletes and celeb/star students isn't a stretch. I'd say that the floor as age defined and not dependent on the education level or program. All three are 18ish at that time. Reed rooms with Sue and Johnny's aunt later on, possibly with Ben. I'd put this before the Storm's parents (well, Mom anyway) are killed. A few years later, he can meet Sue, now over 18.

Pretty much confirms what I originally thought --- Slott had a personal checklist of stories he had always wanted to tell and he used the first dozen issues to cross off his list.

Unfortunately -- that seemed to take some of the steam out of their return, as it looks like he kept the characterizations for the 4, Doom and Galactus at the Waid era. Doing that, he basically ignored all the developments since then.

I don't know, we only see shadows, except for the fake Jim Hammond and some stone hand.
But I kinda hope they become recurrent bad guys. The Unparallelled need a rival villain team.

Future Foundation is cancelled. I wonder if they'll now come back to the Fantastic Four title?
