That’s interesting? I thought this was a clear front runner for the books coming out of Dawn of X so far. Even Hickman touting it as having the cohesive tone of all of the books for his vision going forward. What are some of the reasons you guys won’t be reading? Just not interested?

Three people in CBR not reading it doesn't mean it isn't still a frontrunner for most anticipated X-book.

Oh yeah of course, I’m more so just curious as to what the individual opinions are about it.

Personally...I Can't Wait!!! Everything about it...the team, the premise, seems so new and interesting. (I did not read beyond issue two of Kittenheim's Gold...so Kitty in a leadership role is an absolute non-issue for me).

Me too! Kitty as “leader” obviously was a bit of a gut punch but everything I’ve heard since them has got me excited. Even more so if Ororo does end up becoming the Black Queen. Between the roster, the mission of protecting mutants, the potential interpersonal drama, and the potential for new and exciting power displays between her and Bobby on the high seas? I’m feeling pretty pumped about this book.

Yeah, you're still new here if you think that.

    Anyway...

Sorry, the premise is boring and unnecessary with people who can fly and have an island with teleportation. Also, after X-Men Gold, I'm not torturing myself with another Kitty Pryde as a leader of a X-Team with Storm on it.

I'll read whatever reviews you guys post here (might even pick it up if its a good review) but this is not on my pull list.

    I for one am excited.

Gerry Duggan is good at writing large Team Books. And if you have not read any of Gerry Duggan’s Work I’d suggest you do it before passing Judgment on this Book. However, I agree I myself was not a Fan of X-Men Gold due to crappy writing. But I’m confident this WILL NOT be another X-Men Gold.

I’m down for Kitty being Team Leader. I mean at some point she needs to learn how to lead. I had a problem with it, but now I don’t. I don’t think it’s that big of an issue of Storm letting Kitty lead her. I see this as more of a Baton passing. Mentor to Student. Now the Student has become the Teacher. Then again Emma really could be leading things so who knows.

    I’m Down for this. 100% I can’t wait.

The reason I’m not picking it up is just the X-writer history of handling Storm. No shade toward Duggan intended at this point, but I’ll wait for Storm fan recommendations to pick up an issue. I am in love with the covers though, but some of the preview art with Storm already fed into my jaded skepticism about how she will be handled. Besides the covers nothing has been shown up to this point that has me excited about the book.

Now Hickman - he has been great and I have thoroughly enjoyed his hoX/PoX (will finally get to read #5 tomorrow). I’ve not enjoyed an X-Men run like this in a VERY long time.

I do not believe and refuse to EVER believe the woman showcased here could ever be led by Kitty:

and can we now acknowledge its canon ororo is a stronger leader than cyclops???

I'm very curious to hear your thoughts mainly on Hickman's characterization of ororo this issue. I do however think you will like it. please relay your thoughts when you finally read it.

I LIVE for these covers! I think it was MalachiMunroe that said we were slipping on Dauterman. He was right. The first one is epic. Looks like she has those ships in a whirlpool or whirlwind.

HOX #5 was an exceptional read. Storm’s rallying the people of Krakoa just gave me visions of being the official face of new mutant nation, though that’s unlikely. Polaris and Magneto conversation was excellent and omninois. The 5 was interesting and Hickman’s creativity and compelling storytelling has me hooked. I’m ready for the mutants to say, “**** the world. We are here, not going anywhere, will do our own thing and take care of my own. PS - Don’t start none won’t be none.”

I still think Ororo is an Hellfire Queen and she's there as a direct channel to the Hellfire Club. If you think about it, Emma and Ororo are the ones with the best diplomatic/economic/superhero connections among the X-Men (alongside Hank and Betsy).

Yes I'm curious to see how the world is going to operate in this new society after many times failing to end mutants they managed to push the mutants to developing something designed to be the worst case for humans: all mutants finally working together as one. There are so many weapons of mass destruction on that island, both good and evil, so they would bode well not to do anything foolish.

this is possible but I'm uncertain with this as well. however, that speech does not in put me in the mindset that she will be actually be taking any orders from anyone lol. so her being the hellfire queen might actually happen based upon this.

Well, I will definitely will let you know how Marauders is going. :-) I love Duggan's work. Though, Storm getting harmed by Batroc the Leaper doesn't really bother me much considering the many heroes he's kicked(Literally) the **** out of. HAHA

Aren't they AMAZING. I LOVE the cover of Storm putting the Ships in a Whirl Pool and Whirlwind. That cover is in my background on my cell phone. I love how they are drawing her powers. And the Purple Lightning I love it.

I LOVED Storm's Speech. I don't see how you couldn't love that Speech she gave.
Though, I still don't understand those who viewed this as a Cult. Many people have expressed their reason and I still don't see how anyone can view this as a Cult. But Eh oh well.
But, the way Hickman wrote Storm here is....AMAZING. Now, THAT'S the Storm I know.......

And if Storm isn't the Black Queen(Which most likely she is the best choice.) I wouldn't mind it not being her. :-) I can't wait till this comes out....
