Honestly acid rain isn't outside of her range..

I was just reading about acid rain and its formation. sulfur and nitrogen oxides mix with water to form this. unless these compounds were already present in the atmosphere how would she able go create it?

Thor made it Rain Fire. Not Acid. My Bad, but I don’t think Storm can do neither of that on Earth. Now, if Storm is on another planet then Yes I believe she can.

thanks boo and no problem. I was gone say. making acid rain would seem more up ororo alley being she is all versatile and would try different ways to use her power.

I don’t believe she can on Earth No, but on another planet or dimension most definitely she can. If Storm really wanted to make it rain Acid on Earth she would need to somehow change the molecular structure of rain into an acidic compound that also means changing the atmosphere causing acid rain. Since Acid Rain does not exactly exist as a natural occurrence Storm is going to need to be extremely creative AND change the molecules of water into something else.

Except acid rain does exist in nature. Due to unnatural pollution, the elements are already at hand. Ororo should be able to concentrate the pollutants to create acid rain from the existing atmospheric constituents. Even in an environment that was pristine, I think Ororo could manipulate the pH of rain directly by manipulating the hydrogen's ionic charge.

This is what I think is the best. Need someone with significant gravitas and presence but have the ability to also be soft and compassionate. I can't really think of a big name who really fits and there's a lot of talented black female actors out there who are unknown and have been limited by Hollywood racism. A newcomer would be a good choice to find the perfect Storm

Has to be an established actor. She won't have a solo film, so she cannot get her spotlight like the Chrises and Chadwick. This is an ensemble show, she needs to have a high profile actor to portray her that is both effective and can command scenes/lines (like Halle back in the day) or she'll just be another Alexandra Shipp who is a glorified extra alongside all the other X-Men that are portrayed by not so famous actors..

It gonna be Beyonce.

I love Beyonce's influence, and could potentially thrust Storm's profile. However, she cannot act. She will just become Storm playing Beyonce rather than Beyonce playing Storm.

The MCU has cast a lot of low-medium profile/up-and-coming actors for their main cast(for the most part elevating them in the process; Thor and Cap are still the highest profile roles for Hemsworth and Evans, for example). At this point the brand has supreme loyalty and some leverage to work. I think they could cast a newbie/unknown for Ororo and still make her a star. Who was Shuri's actress before BP? People loved her regardless. As with Hugh and Wolverine, the character can elevate the actor.

when you say chemical science what do you mean by this? like her creating acid rain, combustion attacks or something like that?

Like a scene where she kind of explains the forces her energy sight allows her to perceive and ultimately to manipulate to a hot nerd like Beast or Shuri. She can talk about heat exchange/thermal energy, pressure gradients, air mass and its composition, electromagnetism, water vapor/hydrologic cycle, gravitic forces (like the pulling of the moon on the tides), how they are all connected in nature, etc. This is just a way to introduce the complexity and versatility of her powerset.

Acid raid is also a cool idea. Like in Ellis’s run where she could sense the chemical composition of the rain and knew it was acidic. I agree with Yoga. Atmospheric pollutants, unfortunately, has become part of the standard make up for the atmosphere (most areas aren’t as dangerous/toxic as others), so Storm should be able to coalesce and concentrate those particles to create acid rain or toxic fog.

I thought this was pretty bad a$$. I think it is also a clean distinction between Thor’s magical weather powers vs Storm manipulation of the forces of nature (the need to impose limits to keep from creating a massive catastrophe). Maybe that could come up in an Avengers/X-Men crossover, but also a good point to make these characters not feel like their abilities are redundant/overlap since they can create the same or similar effects in different ways but one has very clear consequences if not done with care and precision. They can also hint at her space weather abilites, as well as the ability to control the atmospheric forces on other planets.

Really?? Hmm interesting. Then if it does exist as a natural occurrence through pollution. Then she is going really need to concentrate on this Feat.

She's already in the Disney play house.
Though again I would love someone new, hight and skin color appropriate. Beyonce being Storm would probably break the internet.

As for the acid rain. I can only remember two times she dealt with it. One in her solo and another X-Men issue. Been looking for the scans. I believe in the X-Men issue. She mentioned how the city pollution helps her makes the acid rain. And her solo not sure if she created it or just "felt" the acid coming.
