None of that is because he invented things, which was the point I was making.
This is true, however, I do believe he played a role in that advancement in his own regard. You don't get that many degrees and NOT put into use. Also when he fights Tony and beats the most advanced suit in the world with Windex? Or when he cut through Tony's shields with his daggers by figuring out the coding sequence? Or shutting down future Tony's heart with the Ultron code? Or rewriting the dragons genetic code with the daggers? I could keep going. But your right we don't see him create a whole lot, but given what he does in priest run, it's clear that he is the brain behind it and driving force. Especially since we don't really see Wakandan scientist really at work

I'd be careful comparing potential wakandan democracy with anything going on here. The U.S.A. has been an oligarchy since the 70's with money from lobbyist determining the majority of outcomes in nearly all elections. Wakanda due to it's isolationist nature would not have those same pitfalls of essentially allowing corporations to take over the government. This is mainly bc the government by all accounts has control of it's natural resources and uses them for the benefit of it's population in a socialistic manner.

That's why part of me was bummed when they took the credit of Wakanda being the most advanced nation on earth away from Tchalla. Retconning Wakanda to have always been the most advanced long before Tchalla makes much more sense, but it took away the characters biggest feat ... a feat really none of his peers would ever be able to replicate in the 616 or the mcu.

Other guys can invent stuff, but who else can literally elevate an entire society into the most advanced nation on earth?

The very idea that Wakanda was a stagnant backwater just waiting for T'Challa the Messiah to jump start the nation into the supreme scientific super power it is, totally flies in the face of logic.

Wakanda ended up being the only power house nation in that part of Africa due to the Vibranium asteroid within its borders and Bashenga's astute shrewdness in starting the Black Panther Cult whose primary function was to protect the Vibranium mound alongside Wakanda in its entirety.

T'Challa was sent out into the outside world to see how nations beyond Wakanda's borders functioned especially as regards the various factions and power players across the globe.

While T’Challa misses out on the feat of “uplifting” Wakandan civilization, his character gains from the added richness of having to preserve the utopia he inherited while making it a force for worldly good. Plus you remove a lot of the colonial-minded Western paternalism that comes with Wakanda having been a simplistic society before T’Challa got educated in Europe and the US. It’s an outdated backstory that implicitly implies Wakanda needed outside knowledge in order to be advanced when the more empowering story is Wakanda always been that way. If anything T’Challa gets the new feat of being the greatest genius in the history of a nation of geniuses. That should definitely be demonstrated on the page by building on concepts like Shadow Physics and Wakanda’s space presence.

The biggest thing for me though is demonstrating how T’Challa changes Wakanda socially because that’s what really speaks to the core themes of the character. That’s why pushing him as leader of the Avengers while putting Wakandan resources behind the whole operation is a good direction for him. It represents him integrating Wakanda on the world stage, which is a great arc even if it’s not permanent.

There is an easy fix for that. Yes Wakanda has been advanced since day one, but T'Challa advanced then 50-100 years further when he takes over. No one has ever advanced Wakanda as much as he has in Wakandan history.

Thank you so much for posting this slice of logic based awesomeness.

I don't agree with this idea as there is nothing on paper, to suggest that this was the fact.

If T'Challa was indeed, the "greatest BP of all time" he wouldn't have made even a fraction of the mistakes, false promises and outright dumb arsed decisions he consistently made from Doomwar all the way through to the garbage actions and miscalculations that have been his bread and butter for the past three years of Coates disasterpiece take on the BP mythos.

Other than Shadow Physics and the Nowhere Room, what has T'Challs been shown building from scratch, that isn't derivative of other super geniuses such as Tony Stark, Reed Richards and Doom's respective inventions?

Yeah, I'd agree. For the character and the narrative, the important thing is the changes he brings to Wakanda socially, not technologically. The tech issue is largely window dressing, while the shift in Wakanda society adopting with the times and changing it's ways is really the heart of its story.
