It's been mentioned over the years in various handbooks that Wakanda had the largest number of mutants per capita. It had something to do with the vibranium mound.

T'Challa designed it. This was before the Wakanda Design group even existed. It even predated M'Baku's first appearance.

I'm pretty sure mutants and Wakandan mutates are different things. In order to be a mutant you need to have the X-gene, in Wakanda's case it's regular people being mutated by the exotic energies of vibranium. They have more in common with the Hulk and other proto-homo novissima than mutants. T'Challa's half-brother Jakarra is a Wakandan mutate and he actually turns into a purple Hulk-like form.

As far as pure action movies go within the MCU, very few if any, match up against Captain America: Winter Soldier which to me, remains the hands down A+ Action/Espionage 24esque movie that Marvel have put out bar none.

That elevator scene where Steve Roger's is surrounded by fully trained SHIELD/HYDRA Agents and still beats all of them to a pulp still gives me thrills to this very day.

I only get the feeling when I watch Okoye throwing down in the casino scene in the BP movie or when Killmonger beat T'Challa to a pulp during their tribal fight at the waterfall.

Does this mean that I'm not a genuine BP enthusiast?

    Of course not.

I just want to see T'Challa's full capabilities and character traits displayed accurately within his solo movies and solo book respectively.

I don't want to see Eden relegating T'Challa's teleportation tech to the background or have Storm bring turned into an "goddess" in a BP solo when no one in the X-office either recognises her as being or portrays her as within her own family of books over in the X-verse.

T'Challa and Wakanda deserve much better than what's been on display in his supposedly solo book.
Brotha Maj, I get it, and i am not trying to change your opinion. Just in my honest opinion, the more I watched CW the more annoyed ingot with how T'Challa was treated in terns of how capable he was, it's almost ironic, when they show him as an "angry black man" he get little to nothing done, however in jos Solo? Calm and collected? Gets isht done. Abd i know Shuri, Okoye and Nakia hot alot of shine in the movie, but I would prefer we Care about them rather then they become T'Challas warrior 3.. as in killed off in the 3rd movie and no one bats and eye, including T'Challa

Butni agree with the showing with cap it wad definitely stunted and uninspiring, granted It caps movie, but cotdamn after watching the movie after the initial hype, you start to see the cracks.
The only time I can say he dominated Bucky in a fight was their first because Bucky was trying to escape not stay and fight. Their second fight they were equal. If Bucky had pressed his advantage after knocking T'Challa down instead of turning to escape who knows how it would've turned out. The fact that Bucky gets what he wanted after getting knocked over the rails makes me think that was intentional, he practically teleported.

At the airport after T'Challa tackles Bucky he doesn't land any hits him while Bucky lands five. If you pay attention during the Hawkeye vs BW fight you can see their fight and see T'Challa attempt to hit him twice and fail while Bucky lands a headshot. Someone on CV made a post on it with screenshots but I cant remember who. I don't think T'Challa would've gotten that upper hand if Bucky never stopped.

When he fought Cap, I wasn't expecting him to win or whatever since it was Cap's movie but I expected better than that, something more like Cap's fight with Spider-Man would've been better or shorter version of Cap's street fight with Bucky.

Most of the time, dude is shown using other characters existing tech advances such as the cosmic power draining tech and nano devices devised by Doom or armaments such as the Black Knight's Ebony Blade.

When do we get to see T'Challa consistently using his own self generated tech that's acknowledged within the MU as being unique to T'Challa himself?
More so T'Challa does akot of on the fly tech or itd vibranium based creations

Anybody remember those Wakandan twins who had a Dora mother and appeared in West Coast Avengers? Did they go to limbo with the book or have they popped up somewhere else?

I'll take another look at the airport scene. But I felt his fights with Bucky were solid. It was everything else that fell short

Maybe I haven't said this before, but the way Markus and McFeely changed the circumstances of T'Chaka's death ultimately changed T'Challa as a character moving forward. T'Challa in the comics is like Bruce Wayne in the sense that tragedy striking in their childhood ultimately robbed them of having a complete one. In Wayne's case, he starts getting groomed to take over the family empire and then travels the world in order to learn how to fight crime. In T'Challa's case he is immediately groomed for the crown and then travels the world (or to the West) to learn about the outside world. This sudden thrust of responsibility is what I think led to the cold personality both men sometimes have.

By changing T'Chaka's death as an event that occurs when T'Challa is a man, it allows him to deal with this trauma a lot better than as child. He had his childhood, and when he was no longer a child, he was a already ready to be king and was the Black Panther. This may make T'Challa more mentally stable, but also takes away the guarded nature, the slight paranoia, and the shrewdness the character is often associated with.

But really, I don't think the MCU prepared for his arrival properly. Keep in mind that the dismemberment of Klaue was taken away from T'Challa and given to Ultron, and the assassination of T'Chaka was given to Zemo, not Klaue. These are key events in T'Challa's history that play out completely differently.

To get back to why I don't think Civil War did T'Challa justice though, I said that killing T'Chaka while T'Challa is an adult makes him more stable. It should have also made him a lot more methodical and logical. Instead the film portrays him as irrational and antagonistic. We know Bucky didn't do it. Everybody knows he didn't do it, except T'Challa. He simply takes what the news told him at face value without ever investigating, and he seemingly has no real plan other than clawing Bucky in the face. His on intelligence network can't find Bucky and needs Black Widow's help. He's never once shown to be an intelligent man (and there were several opportunities to show this) but rather a capable fighter. Almost throughout the entire film T'Challa is wrong. He's supposed to be right when everyone else thinks he's wrong.

In his ruthlessness, he never gets anything done. He has three opportunities to take out his target but doesn't. Moreover, he let Zemo live. Now I understand that one of the themes of the film was that revenge makes you less human, but come on. Zemo killed T'Chaka pretty much for no reason other than to get the Avengers to fight each other. He was essentially collateral damage and Zemo admitted this to T'Challa's face and he let him live. I'm sorry, but that's bullshit.

Now I don't hate this characterisation. But I seriously wonder why so many have a problem with T'Challa in his solo when he was the exact same character at the end of Civil War. He should have been the one guy that saw the Avengers where being played when they were too busy being caught up in their emotions. That's T'Challa, not the revenge obsessed and irrational version we got.

The solo movie actually showed that he can be a lot more methodical and logical.
T'Challa wasn't the only one who thought Bucky was guilty. Why do you think there was a worldwide manhunt for the guy? T'Challa is smart but he isn't psychic. There was plenty of evidence to suggest Bucky was guilty.

As for letting Zemo live, it isn't like the guy went unpunished. If anything, killing Zemo would have been giving the man what he wanted. Letting him live the rest of his days in prison unable to reunite with his family in the afterlife was arguably a better punishment.

So in your opinion, what are the defining characteristics that make up T'Challa's character and overall background?

And for arguments sake, how does T'Challa's apparently acceptable lack of self generated personal technology play into the hands of non-fans who love to diminish his character as a matter of course?
