Double post
Just a thought. Why is it Star Wars fans can admit George Lucas is a terrible script writer, but has good ideas. Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Indiana Jones being good examples of ideas passed off and letting others execute it.
As stated before there are no direct adaptations in comics.
Hey, anything's possible at this point...
Wakanda For.... OOPS I mean Walking Forever!
We need a Shuri Dark Phoenix type saga where she goes all evil and gets it in with her new power set gone wild!
(quickly exits thread with head on a swivel and plaid light saber on full glow just in case)
Get Hectic!
Speaking as someone who watched ANH that first week in '77 (and multiple times thereafter).
Bitter, bitter experience.
Some of the decisions he made (the Ewoks, parts of the OPT) are defensible. Others have been repeated by later creators. But there is far too much evidence that shows Lucas' "vision" for the GFFA after a certain point (which, some have claimed, was more or less contemporaneous with his divorce from his wife Marcia) was BADLY in need of Lasik™.
Basically, he needed someone to say "no!" to him. When a good creator has carte blanche to do whatever he wants, he doesn't always winnow out the bad ideas that inevitably pop into his head. When a BAD creator has carte blanche, you get T'Chumpa.
That's... sadly quite plausible.
Given that the next BP movie takes place after a Thanos invasion, it would be a somewhat logical time to incorporate some of the elements of A Nation Under Our Feet if that's something Coogler wanted to do. And obviously there is a strong emphasis on SOME as you can only fit so much in a 2 hour movie. I do think the finale, where we got a sort of Return of the King moment with the Wakandan ghosts would potentially be epic to see on the big screen (that's where the BP movies CGI would really need to step up from the previous movie).
Even without the Adversary, a Dark Phoenix story potentially COULD work. If they end up destroying the memory place (forget what it's called) and hypothetically Shuri gains the power of of EVERY previous Wakandan somehow as a result, it could lead potentially to both a massive power upgrade and a justifiable reason for her to go nuts. In marvel for female characters in particular, those 2 thngs tend to go hand in hand.
End Game left enough room for Coogler to do whatever he wants. Yes, you can interpret that to mean Wakanda is fully recovered and just fine. But it also doesn't necessarily mean because of the Invasion, the loss of half it's population, and it's leadership can't be struggling. The Golden CIty looked pretty good in Coates run too, but there were still problems.
Basically the Russos were vague enough about Wakanda to the point where Coogler has enough of a blank slate to pretty much do in any direction he wants... which I'm sure was intentional. He can incorporate what we saw in the Avengers movies, or completely disregard it and it works either way.
I'd think so too. Just braining storming on ways to turn the present course of the book into a Dark Phoenix story, if that's what Coates hypothetically wanted to do. Honestly there's no reason to think a Shuri Dark Phoenix story is coming... but the idea was throw out there, so I'm just running with it for a bit.
This is very important and people keep ignoring. Nobody but a select few want to see Coates nonsense on the big screen and those who want to aren't thinking about the overall health of the franchise but rather their own agenda. These are the same people who made a stink about there needing to be more Black love and black women ore BP the. Post BP made the stupid posts about how Shuri should take the throne from T'Challa, Nakia should go malice so Storm could show up or "how could would it be of Ayos gd in the comic's showed up and took the jabari lands". All this dysfunctional BS instead of celebrating the unity and black excellence people have been waiting for.
Folks then take it that BP should cater to EVERYTHING and end up trying to cannibalize the franchise instead of demanding more for people of color
But then we have the EXACT same problem folks had with season one of Coates' run.
At the end of ENDGAME and throughout FAR FROM HOME, we see that New York City & much of Europe have recovered well enough that ordinary life goes on without any visible disruption. School children can bounce around half of Europe with minimal adult supervision, and not have to worry about rebellious Balkan warlords carving off petty fiefdoms.
Do you REALLY think Coogler's first reaction would be: "I know! Let's show the only major Afrofuturistic society in fiction collapsing into civil war three years later! Just because the REST of the planet has adapted well doesn't mean we can't let Wakanda collapse into disorder!!!"
