Lol the neckbeard trolling has begun with Captain Marvel

One year ago it was us. Neckbeards keep taking hard L's. It is the reason I never post the RT user rating because of the troll patrol and **** like...

If the black panther character was a white guy this movie would've got the critical score it deserves. One Star. It's a garbage cliche ridden mess that just screams representation at all costs. It's an extremely sub par iron man clone full of cheese simply aimed at the"woke" crowd. As bad as half the Marvel movies are which are to put it mildly lame

(and why hasn't black panther been featured in that Ultimate alliance new game? WTF do we have to do?)

I think maybe it’s because he hasn’t been revealed yet. I still have hope.

We are the Dora Milaje. We are the daughters of the 18 tribes of Wakanda. We are the teeth of the Panther God. Out of 10,000 years of sweat and bloodshed and battle are we born. We are the women of this ancient land. Deadliest of the species. And our time has come!

Black Panther Vol. 2 #2 - For Duty, for Honor, for Country!

T'Challa is essentially under armed guard as an investigation for his fitness to rule is underway. However, he's more concerned with the Panther Beast across the border. Meanwhile, an Azanian super team is gathering. They're called The Supremacists and at least one has an Afrikaans name. I'm always in favor of more super teams, although this one lacks quite a bit of subtlety. I thought McGregor's story about real South Africa had a lot more nuance and complexity than this fake South Africa, but this story has a lot of other elements and might not have room for that complexity.

Meanwhile, some Azanian soldiers are rounding up natives. Suddenly, it's a beast, he's got fangs, razor sharp ones. Massive paws, killer claws for the - I'm sorry, what was I talking about again? Anyway, the beast's attack inspires an uprising of the prisoners and then the soldiers kill on the soldiers while the beast disappears.

The Wakandan ruling tribal council is debating what to do and how it's going to look. T'Challa implores them to think of the people being slaughtered and Medinao tells him to shut up. While he's under investigation, he has no voice in the council. However, T'Swana disagrees. He think T'Challa's voice is powerful and, to prove it, he challenges him to a fight. The fight is not a resounding victory for T'Challa but, before it ends either way, the Supremacists show up. They attack T'Challa, but he manages to escape. The Azanians began tearing up the capital.

What follows is very cool and reminds me a lot of his fight against the FF. T'Challa separates his enemies and defeats them one by one, often using their strengths against them. But it's not as good as it seems. He realizes his victory was not because of the Panther spirit but his own skill. It's also not good because Azania is launching nukes at Wakanda. T'Challa tries to make an announcement but nobody hears him. He remembers the words of Medinao that he has no voice at the council and decides to resign.

This was an odd ending. The religious/spiritual aspects are important and even the smallest symbols can mean much. But nukes have been launched so maybe it's not the best time. This issue also felt like it was playing for time quite a bit. It's really a series of fight scenes. I have no idea if the Supremacists appear in future issues but their defeat seemed to be a bit of a waste. I always like trying to figure out exactly how collaborative vs. autocratic Wakanda's government is at this point. We obviously know that there's a council of some kind that appears separate from the monarchy. We also know that the King is bound by traditions that he has to follow, including fights to challenge his rule and, apparently, judgments about whether the Panther spirit has abandoned him. But, as is typical, Wakandan government is useless without its King. Anyway, I liked this issue less than the first part, but I'm curious where it'll go from here.

I wouldn't be me if I didn't "Pounce" like a dark melanin coated leopard...

    Wakanda...

Shuri was annoyed at this point as the emergency line rung incessantly.

Shuri: "Just answer it and get it over with!"

T'challa: "I'm so going to regret this... Hello, King T'challa."

    Chicago...

Way below zero degrees with all types of lake front windchill blowing and whatnot.

Jussie: "DUDE... We got problems them guys you sent me snitched!"

T'challa: "I have no idea what you are talking about Jussie."

Jussie: "Look, I'm not recording this and it's a secure line I swear!"

T'challa: "Doesn't matter Wakandan Tech is a 'Match For Anything' so our voices and this call is encrypted and scrambled... Speak."

Jussie: "Okay those guys were supposed to jump me and rough me up a little and then return back to Africa never to be seen again and then they show up at the airport and start snitching like Henry Hill on me... I thought Wakandan War Dogs were tougher than that!"

T'challa: "I told you this was a bad idea from the beginning but you insisted so I did you a favor."

Jussie: "Where is Nakia... Didn't she commission those guys or what?"

    T'challa: "Please hold... NAKIA!"

    Nakia: "Yes beloved."

T'challa: "That thing you took care of out west..."

    Nakia: "What thing?"

    T'challa: "That Chicago thing."

Nakia: "Oh that, what about it?"

T'challa: "The War Dogs you sent which tribe were they from?"

Nakia: "All the other War Dogs were busy with more important matters so I sent two border tribesmen... It was such a small mission why bother sending the best."

T'challa: "The border tribe is in a state of flux pending W'kabi's eventual exoneration."

Nakia: "I'm just in charge of the outreach programs I told you this was a stupid mission."

T'challa: "Jussie is on the line I have to tell him something."

    Nakia: "PSSSHT... Boy bye!"

T'challa: "You lucky you cute... Hello Jussie."

Jussie: "Talk to me I'm lawyered up over here scared as FRAK."

T'challa: "Listen... I'm going to pull some political strings and get you out of this but speak of this to no man!"

    Jussie: "Okay... Whew!"

T'challa: "I'm also going to shift the blame towards Nigeria so keep Wakanda's name out of your mouth!"

    Jussie: "You got it!'

T'challa: "And stop doing interviews and lay low you look suspect every time you open your mouth!"

Jussie: "You could perhaps swear me in and make me a Wakandan citizen I'm pretty much done here in the states!"

    T'challa: "Boy... BYE!!!"

Being originally from Chicago it's sometimes too cold to even play football much less jump somebody when your fingers are icy cold...

Is it bad that with all this Brie Larson controversy I'm secretly hoping Brie screwed the pooch at being the "Face" of the Marvel Universe moving forward and thereby letting Chadwick Boseman take that role instead?

I don't wish the movie ill but I'm not going to lie that I would rather it be Chadwick leading the way... I would also take Scarlet's Black Widow or Tom's Spider-Man...

Carol Danvers has never been a character I could get into. I like her on the Avengers but thats as far as it goes with me.

I'd definitely love Chadwick to be the face moving forward so to speak (and there's no way he doesn't become a major player like Cap did later on in the MCU), but I don't think Brie has really screwed up anything (at least not yet).

We know that the nerd fandom as of recently has been exposing their bigotry on all fronts and the Black Panther movie was also a victim of this. Granted, Chadwick nor the cast and crew were as outspoken on their sociopolitical stances as Brie Larson is, but she hasn't done anything wrong. All of her feminism has been twisted to messages of hate and therefore has received hate in return, and the movie has been labelled as "SJW propaganda" as a result.

I think at the end of the day, Brie is definitely gonna be embraced by the populace the same way Chadwick was despite the vocal minority. I'm not too sold on her yet but social media reactions are definitely heaping praise towards her way. Definitely wanted Panther to be the headliner, no doubt. But as long as I get great films from Coogler and great appearances in other films, I'll be good.

Before this goes south...I'm not saying what she did was wrong but how she did it and the way people are taking it is were she messed up. The Captain Marvel movie should have been nothing but good press but no one is really talking about the movie or the character. Instead they are just talking about Brie Larson. Which may help or hurt her box office. *shrug*

Not sure I personally don't care either way. I'm not getting paid for it. I'm just at the point now that if she did mess it up for herself I would be happy to see Chadwick move right on in or some other character in the MCU. Opens the door for more screen time with those characters.
