The idea is to have T'challa be a guest star in his own movie/sequel, where the real "star" is the villain, which is why these rumors of a villain from another series altogether keep popping up.
Unless Marvel forces Coogler's hand (which they'd be foolish to do looking at how well received the first movie he gave them was), it won't happen.
Well, considering the fact that Marvel editorial have seen fit to allow a faux "woke" writer to relegate T'Challa to guest star status in his solo book, is the possibility of pushing him all back of the bus in the MCU that far fetched?
We are afterall talking about the same T'Challa who had incredible action sequences in Avengers:Infinity War inexplicably strewn all over the cutting room floor at the behest of the Russo brothers.
I'm really curious on how editorial allows such backwards movement while MCU Coogler has T'Challa going far and beyond anything the comics have dreamed of
That’s exactly what these rumors are about. “Fans” want the next Black Panther to be a vehicle for whatever lame villain they want to push into the broader MCU. They don’t care about continuing the arc or themes established in the first film. As long as Doom/Namor/Storm get their due and Wakanda gets decimated they’ll be happy.
Even if the rumors are true, lets not go on the conclusion that T'Challa will be thrown to the back of the bus for another character/villain of the film.
*shrugs* . The Thanos duology was overstuffed as it is. I mean, they apparently cut a Doctor Strange bit too.
At the end of the day, Infinity War & Endgame were about Cap, Thor, & IM. Everyone else got a spotlight scene or two at best.
You may be right, brother. But I'm not in Panic Mode yet. Coogler has 1.3 billion reasons to do whatever the hell he wants.
If sales keep dropping how they have been, he may get the boot sooner. One could hope. He has been given more the ample opportunity to actually apply something of substance to the mythos. He has been given enough chances and has squashed all of them. Its time to go now and give someone with the right stuff (Redjack) to reinvigorate the mythos and set T'Challa and Wakanda back on course. As T'Challa accurately stated to Thor "Wakandan tech, is a match for anything"
Time to get this novice off the book who can't wrap his mind around that fact and get a professional on
If it is Doom, he will have to be.
They didn't go through all that effort to get Fox properties back and then have T'challa kill the biggest villain they have in one movie.
I'm not worried about Namor in regards to being chumped. I think he loses, HARD, if he is in the film as the villalin. They don't have his movie rights fully, he isn't profitable, no one gives a **** about him, and Aquabro beat him to the punch.
Doom potentially is profitable. He could be te next Loki/Thanos. He isn't going ot be the big bad of BP2. They have more than enough better avenues to slowly bring him in (including Disney plus) if they slow build him. Hell, Doctor Strange makes more sense.
If he is in BP2, it simply means he shows up at the very end and is the hidden benefactor/controller over Achebe or whatever villain is in the film. It won't be as the main villain. It will be post credit type ****.
