It's because he can't feel hot or cold down there. He can't feel the extremes, so you protect from them.

I say it's still worth buying. It's a great comic. I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to seeing Jean and Cyclops' eventual reunion.

Jean levitating out of the train in only issue #14 shows how strong her TK was back then!

And don't forget, just prior to that, she had pulled Angel down from the sky and held him atop of the moving train, if memory serves.
