I hope she does something on X-men but as far as I know despite being on the cover she won't be there on issue one. (she doesn't seem to be there on any issue on particular so far)

Yeah, Jean, Scott, Logan, Magneto, and Polaris do a mission in X-Men. I think Cable and Rachel show up at the end of the issue and then they carry on for a mission in X-Men #2, and then the cast rotates with Scott as consistent leader.

I expect Jean will appear in X-Men occasionally, but her primary book is going to be X-Force and she is featured on several of the upcoming X-Force covers.

So didn't Hickman say he would address why Jean's wearing her Marvel Girl outfit after POX #6 comes out? I thought that implied something in the issue would spoil why, but that doesn't seem to be the case

Everyone on the cover of X-Men #1 has been confirmed to be in that issue through the trading cards they showed at the NYCC panel.

They asked White and he said he couldn’t answer it and that Hickman would answer it next week on X-Men Monday after POX6 comes out. Not sure if it will be asked again though.

Hickman will be answering question that he will choose to answer. So he might not answer why Jean is using a dress

I think there has been so much noise about the dress that this maybe the only question he will surely answer.
The answer will surely be a joke though
