It is complicated, the phoenix costume is without a doubt her best costume by far, it is beautiful and iconic. She should wear it as much as posible

but on the other side it is always nice to see new designs, sure many are bad, none is at the phoenix level but there are also some nice ones.

Too bad they wasted this design on Lorna, whom only wore it for a few issues. It always seemed like a modern take on Jean's New X-men look

As both MUA2 and MUA3 prove, the Phoenix design doesn't really NEED any work done to it. Just quality of life changes.

You have to build up to do Phoenix/Dark Phoenix story line, Sony movies weren't interested in that. The Jean/Scott of the last trilogy didn't even have that many scenes together. Hopefully now with Marvel they will take time to build up on the relationships within the x-men, and if they ever adapt DP again, then it will matter.

Although I wonder how fans would react to Jean being portrayed as an underdog for the first film(s)? Since that's really what was impactful about the original story, she was a caring and empathic but used to be very much the underdog. Heck, people praising TAS but before they get to the Phoenix storyline, Jean is essentially just tripping on rocks all the time.

You mean (20th Century) Fox, but I get your drift. And I recall TAS Jean using a Cerebro helm to effect the psionic defeat of the Juggernaut in Colossus' debut episode.

It comes out as the story permits. The books dont run on a regular schedule but rather one that makes sense within the overall narrative. They release schedule for this month might also be due to Christmas falling on Wednesday this week, which is likely why we got 5 X-books out

She's ditching the Marvel Girl outfit for a green and yellow version of the X-Men Red costume. Hickman has said her reasons for going back to the Marvel Girl costume were similar to the ones when she put on the Marvel Girl costume during the Shi'ar trial.
