Having this vote right close to a contentious movie release is kinda pointless. Even if Jean fans mobilized, the movie momentum ensures Captain Marvel will win.

It's somehow fitting that AvX became the most memorable event of the last decade and is still being debated over to this day, despite being universally reviled for its awful storytelling and completely disjointed narrative. The Phoenix 5 did permanent damage to Jean's brand that isn't possible to simply forget like with most bad stories, because people keep on citing the story for various fan arguments.

The P5 did no permanent damaged to Jean's brand. She's the first female X-Men character to have a film named after her, and aside from Wolverine and Deadpool the only X-Man character to be the focus of a film.

Correct, but I trust Bendis with the Phoenix mythos based on his past writing. Aaron is one that keeps passing around to his favorite characters. So I think it's less that AvX damaged the Phoenix as much as Jason Aaron's contribution to the event hurt it.

LOL. You're right. There's one Aaron story I liked though. The one in which the Shi'ar gods summoned the Phoenix itself. That was good, as we had not seen the entity since AvX when Wanda and Hope banished it.

Why was Warsong so bad for it? I mean the event didn't make a whole lot of sense from a narrative standpoint, but it didn't really hurt the Phoenix mythos. The Cuckoos aren't the worst host for it, and it got to be cool in frying Sublime's plans.
