I also agree that we have no real reason to assume that Jean didn't finish her degree, and also, she didn't go back to finish her BFA: she finished her BSA.

Kitty now has a doctorate. Somehow.
I understand from the character files that the O5 have "college graduated" for having been at the Xavier School, because that is what Scott has and has never been to college

It's written right there BA Psychology. That's not even an honours degree. She did not complete her original degree as she died. So she went back in X-Factor. What happened after was never brought up again. So she may have completed it but remember their headquarters blew up and they were confined to the Celestial ship
Kitty dripped out in Mechanix if I recall correctly
Jean didn't study science in Metro college it was psychology as shown here. She passed away before finishing

I'm not sure what you mean by not being an honors degree? Are talking about an advanced degree such as a masters or above?
Anyhow, I'm fine with Jean having a BS or BA degree, though I think she needs to obtain more. Again, we don't know if she has a completed undergraduate degree or not. Due to the sliding time whatever stuff (like my description?) she could have finished online (or by correspondence if still set in the 80's/90's).
Also, did any of the X-Men gain credits for attending Xavier's school?
I'd there really a point to Telepaths studying in school, when they can absorb knowledge and experience from people around them.
Look at Prodigy (without his mental blocks)
Jean has a photographic memory and can store memories in her brain. She has gotten knowledge of anatomy from beast and black panther, learnt how to fly and fight king fu, the Xmen have been taught new languages with telepathy.
Seems like a cop out, but Xavier could have just planted the knowledge and experience of Engineering, medicine, architecture and Accounting in the O5s brains and sent them to take professional courses (just make everyone at the University believe that the o5 have been attending the school for four years).
Telepaths are OP, the applications of what they do are outstanding. Imagine Jean and Charles having weekly visits at mental asylums and psychiatric hospitals, helping people work through their problems.
I know what a MA is and the difference between a BA and a BS degree. I was asking about the "honours" part since I am obviously used to the educational system in the U.S. (which Jean would be attending so the "honours" part would not apply for the most part unless a specific school offers a honors program/degree).
Of course some MA or MS can be completed in a year as graduate programs tend to be 30-36 hours (some are more of course).

BA, BA with honors and BS mean nothing. No one cares and they are all essentially the same. The minute technicalities of that arent worth arguing over when in practice, they are treated the same
Considering those "degrees" are only "applied" when the certified X-Men are actively 'teaching' which is rare these days...I'd say having any sort of degree is pretty pointless for active X-Men.
Cecilia Reyes is a MD. Beast is regarded as a leading scientific expert and referred to Dr. McCoy, so clearly he has a PhD.
Xavier is a professor, so he has a PhD.
Which is why I said it had to do with sexism in the past, where they didn't want to portray a woman has highly educated and had Jean model. That won't happen again in the current era, which has a tendency to draw Jean as more of an ordinary, attractive woman as opposed to an 80s supermodel.
