Jean Grey: Marvel Girl, Phoenix Appreciation 2019

It's sad that Dark Phoenix is getting disappointing reviews from the critics. So far it has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of every single X-film, even below X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I mean, we all kind of expected the film to be a bust, but it would have been nice to at least have the film focusing on Jean not be the worst one of the bunch. Nonetheless, I'm still going to see it, but with expectations super low.

That's because the critics want the Fox XCU to be over and done with yesterday. Apocalypse got a similar trashing even thought it wasn't awful so much as middle-of-the-road.

Well I'm tired of this being treated like it's the only story they can tell with Jean.
Let them shelve it and tell other stories where they don't have to make the powerful woman, lose control, go crazy and die.
That's literally all the normal audience is going to think about when they hear Jean grey.

If only they did the original story that has hellfire club messing with Jean's had. and dark phoenix is a short running time.

Why did they release Planet X from Morrison era but change the name to Phoenix In Darkness, I wonder

It includes both Planet X and Here Comes Tomorrow. I am glad they released both together and marketed it as a Jean Grey story. Phoenix in darkness was the title of one of the Planet X issues. These are some of my favorite X-Men stories.

I only read that run until issue #4. I could have swear Beast and Jubilee were there in one way or another.

I hope that regardless of Dark phoenix critical results the film lets more people know about Jean.I have seen much more art and cosplays on social media (of course thanks to hype of the movie). Hope some new fans stick.

Jean's problem has never been attracting fans, she's always been one of the most popular characters that Marvel has and she makes them boatloads of money from merchandise. The problem is that her actual presence in the comics is nowhere near as prominent as you might expect given her iconic status, and editorial either doesn't know or doesn't want to capitalize on her popularity in the stories themselves.
