Jean Grey: Marvel Girl, Phoenix Appreciation 2019

Jean Grey has an excellent video game record. She could do incredible things in X-men: The Next Dimension, along with having her own Phoenix freakout in an alternate ending to the story mode and Dark Phoenix being a playable character. Jean appeared in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and Marvel vs Capcom 3 during the dark years of her comic book death when it seemed like Marvel had every intention of keeping Jean in the past. Jean's TK was so fun in X-men Legends 2 - I loved powering up that move, picking up lackeys and throwing them around with ease (sometimes off ledges!)

Jean wasn't mentioned or hinted at in MUA3. Colossus and Cyclops had large NPC roles and they will be added to the game as free DLC. The X-men in the DLC pack could be anyone, but I think Jean has a great chance since she is popular and is a returning character to the franchise.

Not really. Jean has a somewhat good role in Disassembled, but the story is honestly pretty boring. And Age of X-Man is even more. From HOX and the next books announced it doesn't look it will have made any difference to Jean's character. I guess something important happened in UXM #22. But even that may be ignored.

I do want to defend Jean's mask a little bit again. Hickman wants mutants to look, dress, and act distinctly from humans. Some mutants can't pass as human like the blue and/or furry ones while some mutants can pass but don't because of something they wear like Magneto with his helmet and Cyclops with his visor. Jean's mask is the only thing in her wardrobe that looks weird and absurd so I think it makes sense she would wear it to mark herself as different. It gives her a "mutant silhouette" in that it has exaggerate proportions.

I'm still not a fan of the skirt, but maybe those new leggings will help.

I don't have a problem with the Marvel Girl costume. Its old school but I think they want fans to get that old school feel from the xmen.

I don't have a problem with the Marvel Girl costume. Its old school but I think they want fans to get that old school feel from the xmen.
