Not really sure what AoXM's kinda-bad numbers have to do with Cyclops/Gambit basically being long-lost twin brothers with a different haircut.

Frankly, with Emma the whole situation with Namor felt fabricated because Bendis didn't like the relationship and wanted it to end (Gillen took over knowing he had to set some things to set up for Bendis, like Rosenberg does for Hickman, I imagine this was one of them). It didn't made much sense neither the triangle, with Emma getting resentful of Scott all the sudden, nor that they wouldn't have gotten together again afterwards eventually;, plus just felt like a repetition of Logan/Jean/Scott and Namor/Sue/Reed.

Scemma falling apart was kind of part of Gillen's original plan, where the Extinction Team would defeat the JGS X-Men and Emma would stab Scott in the back, going back to being a villain because "he made her feel weak". Bendis' take on the relationship is always weird. You could argue he liked it due to making Scott's dream life in HoM being with Emma instead of Jean, while Spidey got Gwen back. And then Scott is shown to be hurt about Namor and Emma years later. Maybe the HoM marriage was all Quesada.

I see HoM marriage as Scott wanted his marriage with jean back & emma just wanted Scott but not as huaband-wife.
So, the witch did the next big thing as jean is too powerful to exist in HoM.
