The wording doesn't make that make obvious, it's too blanket a statement.

Police officers who were threatening an innocent mutant? Hope, the key to the survival of mutantkind? You got me with Magneto, no other X-Man ever stooped as low as to work with him.

Wolverine came off as a complete hypocrite.
What just happened in X-men blue then?

Magneto wasnt a genocidal maniac when Cyclops allied himself with him. He was firmly an anti-hero when he was an X-man. Besides the rest of the X-men accepted Magneto into the fold and barely questioned it. Magneto wasnt about domination and destroying humans under Cyclops' watch

    Cyclops did everything right.
Quite frankly Xavier's dream is an unachievable ideology that was built on lies, deception and manipulation. It died once all the crap about how corrupt he actually was came to light. Its outdated and the X-men must evolve and be quick to adapt to changes around them, not stay stuck in the past trying to chase that, which is what Scott was able to do

    poor scemma
    Rant
Jean really is the worst character in Marvel, isn't she?
    Scemma forever Triangle never.
Scott needs an alpha female like Bettsy.
What woman wouldn't be attracted to Scott? He's 100% alpha male who tells the Avengers to go f*#& themselves.
I want cyclops back free from any ginger women to be his own man.
    Logically..
TeenClops should have lusted for Emma & Cuckoos. Especially Stepford Cuckoos! They're teenage triplet clones of his hottest ex, how could he not be?
    End of rant

That second paragraph is one of the biggest problems with the X-Books since House of M. Quite frankly, it doesn't make sense that any of the X-Men is loyal to said dream, after the revelations of that time, pretty much broke the concept and anyone that keeps trying to defend it in the books looks really bad.

...which is why Marvel needs to retcon Xavier back into being a good guy. With him as a villain, the X-Men make no sense.

Im not sure they can since it wasnt one isolated incident but rather alot of stuff revealed over the history of the X-men. He manipulating and mindwiping the O4 in the AXM annual doesnt seem to be like Marvel is going back with him as they've made him worst in current continuity with that. Yet people still wants to live by Xavier and his tainted dream....

What’s the next best thing? Xavier doesn’t have a monopoly on that dream.

Stop calling it Xavier's dream would be a good start, if they insist with keeping the retcons canon.

It's less the dream that's tainted than the X-Men and the Institute as organizations. They were founded by him, funded by him, and organized according to his ideas and goals. Once he was revealed as a villain, it made no sense for those to continue or for anyone to continue following him. The X-Men and the Institute became fruit of the poisoned tree--a fraud constructed by a liar and hypocrite.

What would make sense is for some of the X-Men to take ownership of the dream and create a new organization dedicated to that. Cut ties with Xavier, and call themselves something new, something original to them and not him.

Yeah, that's what I figured the most logical step would be if Xavier isn't returned to a heroic characterization.
