Assuming he followed Magneto, not Xavier? I can seem him using the loaded rationale that the world only really worked to help out the Jewish people in the aftermath of the Holocaust. Therefore, a massive scale slaughter of mutants done publicly would wake the people into their plight. It would stupid beyond words, but I can see it.

Bell show me a AU story where mutants have all the power and humans are kept in control or locked up. When he sees his children playing and being innocent he takes action to stop the mutants and help humanity. I think Scott fights for the weak no matter who they are.
