Of course, is also possible Jean wouldn't be in the cartoon at all if she wasn't in the team at the time: see how Gambit made it and Bishop was a guest star a few times, but Kitty didn' made TAS at all.

What do you guys think would have happened if Jean never came back and wasn't killed?
Would Scott and Maddie still be together? would scemma be a thing? would Scott have become a revolutionary or would he retire?
What are your thoughts on the matter.

Assuming everything else stays the same, that means that Maddie would still be a tool of Sinister, right? That revelation, as well as the dissolution of her relationship with Scott, might still have led to her villainous turn. How would Jean's absence affect Maddie's identity crisis? Would the good times with Scott, and their son, affect her? Maddie was a big part of Scott's life, so the trajectory of her character would affect him too. Maybe their falling out would make Scott close the book on Jean for good? Or at least redheads...

I think Scott and Emma would still have gotten together but it would've taken a little longer. Everything after that would've played largely the same, I don't see Scott retiring.

There are many stories where some characters can be replaced (they don't work nearly as good though) but the DPS has to have Jean. She is totally irreplaceable on that story (which happens to be the biggest X-men story). So in a way or another Jean was, is or will be present on any adaptation of the X-men.
I think it is very probable she would be on the cartoon. The closest thing were Jean didn't appear (much) was on the anime and she still was a huge part of Cyclops back story.

I don't think Maddie and Scott would have lasted considering Claremont's and Marvel's differing opinions on Scott as a superhero. I think she would have been killed by a super villain. As for Emma and Scott, I don't think it would have happened. It would have probably been someone else. Considering how much Jean impacted Scott's history, I think he would have gone into an entirely different direction in her absence.

why? The Avengers werent on tv all the time and the X-men werent exactly watching much tv in the aftermath bc they were on the move. Besides they wernt from the Savage Land to Japan to Canada.When they finally returned to NY, they were quickly abducted by Arcade for Murderworld and first chance for breathing room after that had them run into Beast. I thought the sequence of events was believable

Yeah thats reasonable. I just assumed there were times where things were calm enough for them to catch the news and see an Avengers battle. The rapid fire troubles does answer that part.
