Gwen's ruled out. Her codename starts with a G now, remember. Ghost-Spider. It has to be after Silk in the alphabet as Viv was listing them in order. So Shark Girl is impossible as well. Spider-Girl wouldn't give any tactical advantage whatsoever as her powers are identical to Silk's. The others listed there are all possible, but a rumoured Young Avengers relaunch would likely rule out Speed and Stinger (she's not called Stature any more). Miles and Riri know Striker from the Da Vinci SHIELD project, which is where Cloud 9 was recruited from, so he's possible. Singularity is probably the one earliest in the alphabet that is possible - but Zub said there's no plans for her and Kamala doesn't have a reliable way to contact her.

I would love if Gwen joined the Champions, but her name kinda starts with a 'G' now I guess... I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being Squirrel Girl. She'd fit in pretty well though I think so I wouldn't complain.
Squirrel Girl was my guess too - she knows Kamala already, from Marvel Rising.
Of course, if that mystery S isn't an X-Man girl (i.e. Surge), then we can pretty much assume Honey Badger is the 15th full time member that joins in #3... which would mean that the other X-Man due to be involved a couple of issues later could be X-23.

It was Humberto Ramos's idea to change Fernanda's codename from Red Locust to just Locust, and you may have noticed her surname is now Rodriguez instead of Ramirez, a change made in TPB 2, that was also because of Ramos. She's entirely his creation apparently, and Zub was happy to comply.

Prodigy's civilian identity is being kept secret, for some reason. There's two heroes with that codename.

With Teen!Cyclops gone the Champions might need to add a mutant or two to their roster if they haven’t already.
Pull List: Currently Empty
Whelp. Guys, I think we just lost Miles. For War of the Realms, anyway. He'll be busy in Journey into Mystery instead. The West Coast Avengers will also be a person down, as Kate Bishop is there too. Maybe this explains Silk being in that reserves list? They needed another spider to replace Miles temporarily?

I asked about Miles in War of the Realms, the reply was just "read on and you'll find out".

We should know what's going on with Sam by issue 4.

Don't bother asking Zub about that S. Speed and Surge were both suggested, but he just said "It definitely starts with an S".

Zub got all of his first choices for that reserve list.

Zub is unaware of any plans for a new Nova solo.

People need to be a bit more patient regarding Miles's storyline.

This was a great read. A great straight ahead meat and potatoes superhero comic. Usually that wouldn't be a big deal but this is the kind of book that Marvel has really struggled to make lately. The characters all sound like they are supposed to. The writer tells what feels like a complete story while using it to set up another.
Yes I know this all seems basic but when you're in a desert and haven't had anything to drink in a day and someone hands you some ice water you really appreciate it.
"The Marvel EIC Chair has a certain curse that goes along with it: it tends to drive people insane, and ultimately, out of the business altogether. It is the notorious last stop for many staffers, as once you've sat in The Big Chair, your pariah status is usually locked in." Christopher Priest
Bad news. Comixology sales are less than impressive. 15 other books outsold Champions #1, including Titans.

I really enjoyed the book, and given the large size of the roster it's going to be neat to see how Zub gives each character their own opportunities to shine. The art was pretty good, and I like that Brawn, while still having the Hulk look, is a more fitting size for the character. The ending was pretty solid too - great lead in to the next issue!

Yeah, it's a pretty all-star team with a lot of characters people already love. Let's also not forget that the Titans brand alone carries a lot more weight than Champions probably does I would think.
