That would probably depend on who you ask.

Kamala, Sam, and Miles left the Avengers in a very purposeful way, wanting to create something different with the Champions, so I don’t think they’d want to be considered proteges of their former team. Viv, Amadeus, Nadia, and Riri have a more favorable view of the Avengers, so they’d probably be okay with that comparison.

I think he's right here. Viv obviously has an Avenger for a father, Amadeus is a former Mighty Avenger himself (on a team with Hank Pym, Cassie Lang, and his mentor Hercules). Nadia didn't actually defect, her Avengers team disbanded and she was juggling both teams briefly.

That and, Marvel tends to commission they covers so say, if an artist is just given the name of characters they are supposed to draw and didn't look up they're most up to date design, I can see this mistake happening.

Speaking of school, Rafael Martins‏ (@rafaradar) wondered if there are upcoming plans for the Academy X kids like Surge, Hellion, Mercury and Dust.

Jordan: Three of those characters appear in a book we’re sending to press last week. The fourth is in a script I read recently, and I think her fans will be very happy with that appearance.

Well, Hellion is male, so not him. He and Surge are both in Amazing Nightcrawler, one of Age of X-Man books, so she's ruled out. Mercury's not a POC. And the fourth one was in something he read recently... as in, Jordan D White didn't edit it, so it's not an X book. Sounds like Champions then. If so, he's just revealed that our new Champion is Dust.
