Well Mesmero had to work on Rachel in her dreams while she was in a coma, so it's not like it was super easy for him.

Nope, Mesmero took her over and turned her into his sexual plaything because '80s comics could be very problematic, to say the least.

I think generally it was a different time and they didn't know how to write for women. Still really don't in a way which kind of brings us back to Rachel and how some writers just can't seem to write for her.

Yeah, I would rather she stay a supporting character for Cable in his command base then be used as brain washing material anymore. I am tired of her being used as brain washing material.

I would be alright with that but doesn't his new book have Psylocke in it? Two telepaths on the team I think would be overkill. I remain hopeful she sticks with Cyclops through the X-Men book.

Also put Phoenix Rachel as well but that was his power of hypnotism and for which he had to ambush her. He never would've been able to do so in a straight fight

Yeah Mesmero had to get his hooks into Rachel while she was in a coma after fighting that alien ship in Gold.

True, but I remember reading something that said that Phoenix Jean (the PF believing itself to be Jean), was very susceptible to psionic attack. Hence the control by Mesmero and corruption by illusion from Mastermind. Also why Emma and Charles could enter her mind at all.

the same can be said about Rachel bc at this point, it canon that she's very susceptible to psionic attack as well
