I know there's a lot of LGBTQ+ who are fans of Emma and Betsy(I'm gay) but the popularity of these characters for a str8 male point of view is, well, purely sexual! This is what it is in real life in the comic fanbase.

You could say that about a lot of female characters. But surprisingly Emma can still be popular when they show her wearing pant suits and just looking fashionable and polished. Betsy can look good wearing that entire full body uniform with the hood she wore in the Outback years. Also, the new Captain Britain look for Elizabeth is fantastic, it has this element of an old fashioned Knight of the Round Table along with some feminine touches that emphasizes that she is a female warrior Knight.

Are there lots of oversexualization of comic characters, most definitely. Illyana is one of the worst cases of a child character being oversexualized by artists. Then you have that horrible piece of art that showed Emma in an oversexualized outfit posing like a porn star around the ruins and dead children of Genosha, this was an artist oversexualizing a genocide event in comics, it was disgusting.

In the actual time in the comics Emma was shown wearing a normal teaching outfit when she was found and saved in Genosha. She was dressed as a fashionable woman while teaching school.

Emma has a lot of gay fans and they like that she is sexy, strong, and fierce. I am a lesbian and I just like that she is a strong female character who tries to do the right thing in spite of some of her moral flaws.

So sure, I will concede there are tons of people who just read the comics to look at sexy drawings of women and who don't care about the stories or the character history at all.

I hated Rachel's Marvel Girl outfit during her return years prior to her going into space. I thought it was stupid to have her walking around in nothing more than a bra and the tiniest mini skirt possible. To me Rachel is a person who has lots of scars and probably covers up because of that. Realistically she has marks all over her body where she was tortured and whipped while she was being programmed as a hound. So it would not be surprising that Rachel would always want to cover up her body and hide it. That's why when they have her wearing full body outfits that makes more sense for her as a character.

Realistically, the majority of comics fans are (str8)men. Not all of them think the same but most of them know Emma as a sexy hot blond chick and definitively they vote for her character for their personal taste when it comes to popularity contest. This is what I am saying. I agree with you about what you're written but not WHY she is popular in the comics fan base in general and this is the sad part of it.

I am done with this conversation. Please go troll someone else.

I like and appreciate Rachel, Jean, Emma, Storm, Betsy, Kitty, Illyana, Rogue, and pretty much all of the X-women. I honestly don't care about the people who only look at comic book women with the hopes of having sex with them in their fantasies, that holds no interest for me and the conversation is just a perfect example of the misogyny, bigotry, and racism that infests every part of the Internet like a disease.

The majority of people who are fans of Emma (and there are a lot of them) are fans because of what she's done and her unique personality among the X-Men. Most people who read for the **** get bored quickly and move on to something else.

I have met a few people with crushes on fictional character (some are X-men fans but that happens everywhere). That doesn't always happens exclusively with pretty girls though they are the most common case.
On the X-men that may happen but I don't think it is that common. At least from my point of view many Emma (and also Jean fans) are gay men or women and not every guy who likes them is because of the sex appeal. Some just genuinely like the characters.

Sex appeal can help some people like the characters but I don't think it is the main reason people like them. I mean every member of the X-men is draw as a super model.

In Emma's case she even has many haters.

lol, except Rachel in X-Men #1! She was drawn wearing a very body hiding costume this time around. Mind you I always wondered if Rachel would have lots of scars on her body from being enslaved as a child and teenager. The only time she ever wore a revealing costume was in X-Treme X-men during the New X-Men period, after she came back from space she was back in full body costumes again.

I too believe she probably has many scars, people forget how many things she has gone through.

    Also on other topic
Now that I think of it, she is supposed to look a lot like Jean but people rarely mention it.

They used to. She is drawn similar enough, same eye color, same hair color. Just Rachel keeps her hair super short compared to Jean.

You know I would love a scene where Jean and Rachel are talking while Rachel gets changed and Jean sees the scars on her back and talks to her about it. Just something where they show Jean trying to understand better all the things Rachel has endured through her life.

To me it's always been a writing failure. If you had a female writer with control over writing Rachel and Jean, they would probably easily be able to develop the mother/daughter relationship. I find the male writers can do Scott as a father, but they have trouble doing Jean as a mother.

You responded to my message so I can't be the troll here I guess...
I wrote my point of view clearly in my last message: "Realistically, the majority of comics fans are (str8)men. If you think I'm a misogynist, a bigot and a racist because our conversation, well, you're totally wrong about me when I precisely denounced the situation of Emma(and Betsy) among the comic fandom how she's basically perceived!
In any porn site the most seen X-ladies are: Betsy/Emma/Rogue. I don't invent anything!

This is what true fans are but not the whole of comics fandom.

Nope. I only expanded my point of view because RachelGrey responded to me. Check the previous messages.

I speak about the general public, common people certainly not just crushes. As I said Emma(&Betsy) is well known for her physical attributes and this is sad because she's more popular for this reason than her personality and what she has done. This is what I argued with RachelGrey.

If she still had the Shi'ar deathmark on her back, that would be an interesting conversation as Jean has no firsthand account for what happened to her family or what Rachel was put through. That alone should have been a topic of conversation at some point upon Jean's return but glossed over so they could be free and fly together. We'll never see it happen.
