That's what I asked--is it a new story set in the past ("back then"), lol! I asked because of the characters chosen and the costumes. But also because it might have been an old story that I missed....

No, I don't think it is a story you missed. I think it is a 'new' story, that is set in the past. Maybe like right after Avengers Defenders War? Now I want to go back and read that.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

oh good. Those were great times and the artwork was terrific. I like how each character kept their "personality" and how Namor fit in with everyone. I wish there had been more team-ups at that point in time. I want to re-read the A-D War now too!

A mini series? Well that's better than nothing! Still I wish Marvel would revive the OG Defenders line for a new ongoing, the last Defenders mini series was nice but an ongoing would be very good.

Maybe they are testing the "waters" (pun intended!) with this.....?

Paul Renaud also has an instagram and I found these images from a couple of months ago. I think they are for Tarot though, if you look at the costumes. I BELIEVE that's Namor at the top of the image next to Torch.

I don't see any Namor, and again, I'm guessing that this is for Tarot, but it is interesting. Doctor Strange, Surfer and ... Galactus!

Here's one of Wanda and Vision, Wong and Surfer, at Strange's sanctum?

    Even more interesting ... Mephisto!

And finally, Iron Man in his old costume. I think that's Hulk's arm in the cut off panel above.

You're absolutely right. Cap being there is a dead giveaway.

If that truly is Tony, then it's a wonderful sight to see an old classic return for this special event.

I agree. When I saw the cover, and realized the costumes were from Avengers Defenders War era, one of my very favorite times for reading comics, I was thrilled. Also appreciated the Art Nouveau style borders too.

Yep, Cap made me think it might be a panel from Tarot. IF all of these are Tarot, it's going to be an interesting ride, considering the teams, Galactus AND Mephisto! Can't wait!

Hmmn. Wanda and Vision and Surfer would certainly be at the Doc's Sanctum Sanctorum during the mid part of the A-D War, but....Wanda was not wearing her Wimple at that time, nor did she wear the high gloves. The way she is pointing is reminiscent of long ago from that time when she did point that way to unleash her Hex power.

So.....could this possibly be from before the A-D War rather than an untold tale from the A-D War? I think it is possible.

And...is that Crystal standing with Johnny and Namor?

Hmmm. It is hard to tell. I need to go back and find out the timing of Avengers Defenders War. It was also before the Invaders books, and that retcon, and they were still trying to figure out Namor and Cap's relationship.

Avengers-Defenders War was about 2-4 years our time before Wanda and Vision married, so a long time after the Wimple-wearing Wanda. The high gloves were from that long ago time as well as the finger pointing.

    I think I just found a mystery!

OMG! Jae Lee's Namor! Those were good times, Ravin' Ray.

Also, that Namor Annual had a reunion between the Defenders. In those days, Marvel knew how to do fun stuff with their Annuals.

January 2020 will give us Tarot but also we will have a new mini series event called Atlantis Attacks! Written by Greg Pak and featuring Atlantis, Namor, and the New Agents of Atlas! link

Atlantis Attacks by writer Greg Pak and artist Ario Anindito will pit Namor, King of Atlantis, against Pak's revamped Agents of Atlas team. The series will also feature the new Agents of Atlas meeting the original, Jimmy Woo-led team.

Congrats, Ray! A lot of people like the Byrne stuff best of this run, but the Jae Lee and Bob Harras, of all people, was one of my favorites. A cool dark fantasy tale. AFTER the Doom issues, which were good, also, cause DOOOM!

Is that the Annual that had Namor in Rick Jones' body, while the villain stole Namor's body? That WAS a fun fun story.
