I really need to sit down and read the Doom 2099 series entirely.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

From time to time, I also check to see what Doom art is out there on the market. Surprisingly, someone is selling the original art from FF annual #2 showing Doom's origin, art by Kirby and inked by Chic Stone. Heritage Auctions is a premier auction house and they usually get the cream of the crop from serious collectors as sellers and buyers. Most of Kirby's FF stuff that I've seen goes for 5 figures, covers in the low 6 figures. I'd have to hit big on the Powerball to get anything like that! This past spring a Frank Frazetta cover painting called "Egpytian Princess" used for Creepy Magazine went for 5.4 million.
That IS going to go for the big bucks. Kirby's art is untouchable for me.

I'm looking at the first posts of this thread and realized nothing magnificent was added to Doom's first post! Any volunteers to write a worthy introduction to the Lord of Latveria's appreciation thread?

If not, does anyone have a list of his titles? I know we were discussing Lion of Latveria not too long ago.

I think that last thread reboot caught everyone by surprise. We could try and copy past of the the older threads' first post but wouldn't the author of the first post have to edit their post to add it?

I've been linking to the older threads in my signature so we don't lose track. I should keep an offline copy of the recommended reading from that one.

It most definitely was a reboot surprise. And more than once.

I copied the pages that collected pertinent Dr Doom info from the previous 2 threads, but in the reboot haste, the last 2 threads also were started with ... let's say less than lavish posts. Here they are:

Matt locked up the old thread, so here's a replacement. Talk about Doctor Victor Von Doom, ruler of Latveria and the Infamous Iron Man, here!

With the old forum gone, I think it's only fair that the good Doctor receive a new thread (the previous one was close to hitting 300 pages).

So, what are your thoughts on Victors future in the Marvel Universe?

What will his original sin be?
Is he destined to join the New Avengers, or work against them?
Will Valeria Richards bring out his better side, or will he bring out her worst?

I'm thinking the first post for a character like Doom should magnificent, and full of bombast ... and boasting. ;p Some more general info, at the very least. If no one else volunteers, I'll try to put together something this weekend. Again, suggestions or additions for the first few posts are welcome and appreciated. I know things need to be updated.

I'm looking at this, in part because, wasn't it rumored that they were going to reboot the Appreciation threads every year? If so, it is a lot easier to copy and paste what's there, than try to pull this stuff out of thin air.

Yes they do seem to be consistent about that so maybe in January, they'll do it again. I think I may have been out of town when they did it this past January. I wish there was a way to have them just copy a post from here and make it the first post? Maybe Ravin' Ray could give a suggestion since he posts here too,.

Here's what a copied from the older thread. Part of the post is an image but I will add them to the word doc I'm creating. Plus I need to add the more recent stuff from the past couple of years.

Doctor Doom & the Masters of Evil 1 – 4 (Limited Series) January 2009 **** A fun mini series aimed at all ages. Great individual moments downgraded by inconsistent art.

Fall of Hulks: Alpha one shot, Feb-10 “Meeting of the Minds” The Intelligentsia gather knowledge from the world, Doom keeps it. Fall of Hulks was difficult to follow unless you got all of the Hulk titles, but this one-shot was a particularly nice showing for Doom. **

Spider-Man & the Secret Wars 1 – 4 (Limited Series) January 2010 Another all-ages title, recaps Secret Wars from Spider-Mans POV, with Dr Doom; again providing a new take on a classic story. ****

    Default Happy Halloween!

A Blast from the Past in the Spirit of Halloween Doom meets Dracula! I liked his appearance here as he throws some shade at Dracula while he discusses treaties with Dracula. This occurs when the Cabal with Osborn was still together. As the meet near the Lunar Lander, Dracula shows what jerk he is by trying to wipe out Neil Armstrong's footprints on the Moon.

Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

    Excellent choice for the day!

That Captain Britain Annual was awesome too.

Captain Britain was a good series and I will have to add those appearances to our list and to my word doc. it's a shame that AFAIK I don't think Doom had any more encounters with Dracula, at least not the current pony tail version. I seem to remember a story where Doom some vampires to guard the catacombs of Castle Doom. But I think they were of a lower level than Dracula. Doom could have used a spell on them or something

Love those Jack O' Lanterns, or should we say Doom O' Lanterns!

Thanks for posting the preview, IW! Here we have another artist's take on what Doom looks like under the mask too. I'm glad that Larocca will be on the book for at least for the time being.
I think just about everyone expected Stephen to be there at this point. He's just about the only person Doom would trust. And Stephen was the only one who was at least willing to hear Doom out in Infamous Iron Man. Good to see Silver Sable there too. I have to repeat I like that we are seeing a different take on just what the Hood/Demon did to Doom at the end of Invincible Iron Man #600 (?) . I just think it is more magic based then a physical injury.

Thanks a lot for sharing the link to the preview.

Wow, this looks interesting, back to Doom's face certainly looks pretty different to how was portrayed in FF, damn he even has now a full mane when in the first issues of FF after the burning he was portrayed as totally bald, also his face doesn't look so bad just like ...old leather.
So seems like he has some respect (understably) for Strange to care to explain to him, also yes, nice touch from Strang to bother on cover his face and take care that no one upsets Doom more than intended also liked the presence of Silver S. just to remember where she comes off, still I think that a war is almost inevitable.

By the way all this framed-attempt and terrorism just made me remember the arc of Winter soldier.
