Some of my favorite early Doctor Strange merchandise...
the Ben Cooper Dr. Strange jiggler form the late 1970s...
and the ad for it and the rest of the wave...
and the Dr. Strange Viewmaster reels from the mid-70s...

Yeyeyeye ^^ since all the character appreciation are reset, I'm running through all of the ones I know.
The next appearance I saw him is in... 90s Spider-Man cartoon.

Strange how Strange is webbed with Spider-Man for me.
I still liked him, his cape was still cool, his magic is cool, and for the first time, I was introduced to his mansion, which was super cool!
I'm honestly really enjoying Waid's run right now. I agree that we didn't really need the depowering aspect, but I loved seeing Strange go out into the universe and discover himself in a way. This is the first Doctor Strange series I'm keeping up with monthly, so I'm not that well versed in Strange, but so far I'm really liking it.
I agree that the depowering part was lame, the run really picked up when he got to the skrull planet for me, and it became even better when he got back to Earth.
Those Viewmaster reels were the coolest when I was kid. Just realized that was Ditko's art. I'd LOVE to see those. His magic landscapes must looker killer in Viewmaster 3-D!
But wow! I've never heard or seen those ... are they really called Jigglers? LOL! They look like action figure puppets. I bet a lot of kids got hit in the face with those things.

Forgive me as I haven’t read much solo stuff when it comes to Stephen, but have there been any character defining-stories/runs for Dr Strange? Anything a little modern (2000+??)
I can only think of The Oath, all the others I see seem to only get average reviews. Nothing bad, but nothing exceptional either.
I think it is hard to have a character defining run when Dr Strange didn't even have a solo in the 2000s, until recently, with the post movie books by Jason Aaron and Cates and Waid. Of course, I'm biased, but the character defining runs to me were earlier, when he had solos, like the Englehart Brunner run, Ditko. Though I do love the most of the OGNs, but again, those are older.

In Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which was my next Strange experience, Sanctum Sanctorum was one of the home bases. I was so hyped! I can actually explore it! It was so cool! I love that game! Of course I play as Strange too.
