First New X-Men: New Mutants Appreciation 2019

Really? Does anyone even acknowledge that Cable was a 'New Mutants' member?

X-Force team actually began in New Mutants #87 when Cable was introduced which culminated in X-Force #1.

So they should be remembered as X-Force and not New Mutants.

The storyline-theme, artists, team-lineup and writers were all completely different from the original New Mutants era.

Yes, really. The theme of the book doesn't dictate whether or not the 'New Mutants' were still the 'New Mutants' in their own book. Unless explicitly otherwise stated, they were the New Mutants until #100 where Cable officially reforged the team.

Domino, Shatterstar, Feral, sure. But even they were New Mutants. The only original X-Force member who wasn't, before they changed writers, is Siryn.

New Mutants is my most nostalgic read for the X-Men and that's partly due to Bill Sienkiewicz's art.



I would absolutely love a new modern-day New Mutants book written by Sienkiewicz's on art duty. New Mutants has always been more bizarre, horror, supernatural, and mystical. It's a genre the X-Line is currently missing. Have Moonstar, Karma, and Magik head this with a team that combines other members throughout the New Mutants run.

Slap a wonderful writer on it and take my money.

The New Mutants are my favorite teen team of all time. I remember saving up my lunch money to buy New Mutants Special Edition #1. They were always off on some "caper", Wolfsbane talking **** about Magik as they traveled through Limbo, Dani accidentally pulling **** out of people's head and I loved when Sam would always say, "Ah'm invulnerable when Ah'm blastin'!"

Technically, only the New Mutants created/introduced by Chris Claremont from ish #1-#54 should be considered first generation of New Mutants. Kitty should have been in this team too.

Its really amazing how my appreciation for this batch of X-ers has evolved over time.

Illyana will probably always be my ride-or-die of the New Mutants, but in most recent years I've fell madly in love with 3 whom previously never registered on my appreciation radar.

Sunspot, Boom Boom and Shatterstar.

Its incredible how a talented writer can elevate and foster the folks I was indifferent to and shuffle them firmly into my pantheon of faves.

Also, whats been done to Douglas is just shameful.
