Nobody here takes any superhero death seriously.
But it's the way in which they are written off the board...with scant courtesy, in Rahne's case...that many of us are calling into question.

Fair enough, and honestly her death off screen makes me think she's sitting in a coffee shop somewhere while whatever concoction Dark Beast put into Dani's bloodstream is causing her old power to be used against her (greatest fear come to reality).
I mean does anyone REALLY think Dark Beast "fixed" the girls without giving himself something to benefit from? Surely he can't be doing it for scientific breakthroughs and the pleasure of helping people.
A little nostalgia! An old french cover by Jean Frisano:

You shouldn't have to resort to deaths to make a plot interesting. New Mutants writers made Magus, Belasco, White Queen, Demon Bear, and Shadow King 'menacing threats' without having to kill a New Mutant. And they don't have to murder for their actions to be reason enough for the New Mutants or any X-team to go out and fight them.
Death can add a lot of weight to a story, but uh, you have to do it well. Like, you actually can do it very well! And then watch as a later writer screws it up by just bringing the character back.
This death could be a fake-out, though, which I don't like. The trick with a fake-out is that you can't have it be the big cliffhanger and center of all the drama, because then your entire story for a time is dedicated to milking fake feelings out of the audience.
I don't blind date I make the direct market vibrate
Rahne is not dead lol. Emma's just fucking with her and Dani's psychic bond.
Scott during the sappy fake funeral: *sniff* You may have been a furry, and you may have been cursed to be written with a terrible phonetic accent, *sniff* but you were one of the last redhead girls left... *Break down in tears and manpain*

It sounds like we are gonna be stuck with that Tran storyline for a while, and the New Mutants didn’t forgive Karma despite them smiling at each other every issue for no reason.
