Prefer the actual original almost 2 year story arc which began running in Captain Marvel Adventures #22

Which was finaly going to get a new edition, sadly canceled, well; because not PC.

I've recently been helping with annotating the latest volume of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and the story involves Mick Anglo's Captain Marvel substitues in a reasonable capacity. I had *zero* idea there were just so many British ripoffs. It's a fascinatingly common archetype.

Yeah, what happened was that Captain Marvel had a UK reprint. When DC sued Fawcett out of the comics biz, the UK publisher ended up running out of material. So they created an expy, Marvelman. That character, later renamed Miracleman, was creator owned originally, but was subsequently sold to Marvel.

Anglo later had to create expies of his own expie, like Miracle Man (Seperate from the later name for Marvelman) and Captain Miracle. Both are in the thumbnail to that video. Plus, there were other non-Anglo ripoffs like Thunderbolt Jaxon, Ace Heart and Mr. Apollo.
