But I can still recognise when the effort is being made and opportunities are taken.
The root problems remains, this isn't the first time the X-men books have been diverse but because the root problems remain around the issues are going to pop up again. So what are the root issues imo

    1. Creative teams not being diverse

    2. The line still revolves around white men and women in the important stories

    3. It is pretty similar to number two but O5 is all white, Only Storm, Thunderbird and Sunfire are PoC from All new All different, Jim Lee era gave us Bishop and Jubilee. Pretty simply we only have three and half characters Bishop, Storm, Jubilee and Asian Betsy now Kwannon(I forgot Forge) who are grandfather in as "core characters". But there is an actually other group who fills this need and the X-men line is going to suffer with diversity issues because M, Sunspot, Synch, Karma, Warpath, Blink, Jubilee, Moonstar, Mondo and others are in this group. They are stuck in a werid limbo because the line refuse to age up some characters about 5 or 10 years.

Those are root problems, The X-men has been the poster child for diversity in comics for years, X-men smoke all other major players(Avengers and Justice League) in this area. The big problem looks like this the X-men look amazingly diverse now but time comes for the line to refresh and refocus so it doesn't get stale. The line resets and because the old problems exists the same issues pop up again. Some future probably white writer wants to put the X-men back in the mansion have Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm be the center of everything and put together classic accidently mostly white team with excuse those are popular ones . That is the root problem the X-men always goes back to that.

I am more for the authors doing what they want… and the readers reading if they like it. Freedom seems important for me in creation. The authors have already to face the publishers, there’s already enough pressure and constraints in my opinion.

I think it would do the X-Men some good to age the old guard up 5-10 years. I actually think them still being in their late 20s is ridiculous.
Reading List (Super behind but reading them nonetheless):
    DC: Currently figuring that out
    Marvel: Read above
    Image: Killadelphia, Nightmare Blog
Other: The Antagonist, Something is Killing the Children, Avatar: TLAB
Manga: My Hero Academia, MHA: Vigilanties, Soul Eater: the Perfect Edition, Berserk, Hunter X Hunter, Witch Hat Atelier, Kaiju No. 8

Seriously though. We know based on the MCU that fans will still love their favorite superheroes even if they're well into their 30s, 40s, and even 50s in some cases. The fact that editors still point to "relatability" being the issue is ridiculous.

That's like saying we shouldnt free the slaves if it doesn't bother us because people should be free to do whatever they want except you know the people who aren't free because the people in power are all the same and think alike.

Extreme but pretty much the same concept. When your thrown into a system created by the "main "and your the other.

And quite frankly if your a "creator" and all you can do is find different ways to write the same people who all just look one way you are not a real creator you are an observer who is able to distort your truth. Like god father and stuff I personally don't think martin is some legend it's like "oh he told what was prob a story about him or a family member. Now a black dude navigating the mob and working his way up or an Asian American in the Italian heavy mob that would have been something creative from him. There are artists, writers, and then creators.

There’s no slavery anymore. Other people are free to create other comics that suit their view better… It is what the Independents do… as long as readers buy their comics…

If all some people can create is segregated work than that's on them. Still hardly what I would call a creator.

They are trying to keep them ever green and I get that but how does Cyclops being ever green at 30 or 35 hurt the character? They have small issue they made into something stupid

Beast, Banshee, Dazzler, Cable in their 40s
Cyclops, Jean, Storm, etc in 30s
Colossus, Rogue, Iceman, Karma, Warpath, Kitty, etc in 25 to 27s
New mutants and Gen-X some where between 21 and 25s
New X-men and others 22 and Below

From this point on don't make any new kids and do your silly ever green stuff where nobody ages. How does that hurt the line?

Historically they are the most diverse, but I feel recently the Avengers side of Marvel has been more active in promoting gender and ethnic diversity. Which is a shame considering how diverse the X-Men are. I think the metaphor kinda "lets" white creators pat themselves on the back for "diversity" without making more effort to show it

Yeah. I would like to see them grow, In fact the original X-Men should be in their 40s by now. Give the newer ones the chance to be recognized.

Something I've noticed is the newer Avengers and side groups like the Champions are getting plenty of buzz both in and outside of Marvel. So why aren't the newer X-Men getting the same popularity as Miles morales and Kamala Khan?

True. But maybe they could some one-shots or minis exploring their origins and personalities. Idk if that could work

And even in group comics, X-23 gained popularity, so I think the others should get a chance. Otherwise the X-Men could get left behind in the cultural consciousness

Let's be honest here....We LOVE our favourite characters just as they are. Sure, a few wouldn't mind if they were aged up to 30's-40's but that's not really the wish of the entire global readership. And ageing up is not going to solve the diversity problem. The issue is not their ages, (that's not an issue with the other franchises) or their lack of presence, because they are present. The issue is...some writers are not utilising their minority characters, especially the newer and younger ones, as we deem they should to tell their "relatable" minority stories and/or put them at the forefront driving major storylines...which can be a catch-22 because again, we ALL have our personal preferences on who we want to be given the spotlight.
Regardless of what the writers do...some, if not most of us...will still be dissatisfied.

It's not as though the writers aren't aware of the issues plaguing the industry with regards to diversity representation, I can assure you, they are (they would have to be blind, deaf and comatose not to be) but as creatives they must be allowed to create freely yet fully cognizant of the readership's expectations. As with Musicians, Fine Artists, Novelists...yes, they're creating for an audience but personal artistic intent and vision must have precedence, too, else why embrace the creative spirit? (It's why a lot of writers go the independent route).

I'm sorry but the notion that creativity has anything to do with race is one of the dumbest ideas i've ever heard in my life. I for the life of me can't figure out what that has to do with race when Sailor Moon looks like a white chick but her name is Usagi Tsukini and she lives in tokyo. The problem is lack of creativity imo. That is just one of the worst and most lazy cop outs ever. You can't see the world around you and incorporate that because it minimizes your creativity.
