Pretty sure CBR hyped up Synch more than Marvel did.
Also Darwin is prominent. Wish it was at Monet's level.

"Cable was right!"
A friend of mine seems to think it is because there isn't diversity in the X-Office. Historically majority of the writers and editors have been white males. I do not know for sure as I haven't checked but I am interested to see if this is true and what your thoughts are.
Other Vita and Hill who just wrote books, I can't name black writer or artist who has had significant run on the main X-men books. I know Ken Lashley has done some stuff but other than that I am drawing a blank. It is highly possible that Black writer has never had 3 or 6 issue run on the main X-men book. I wish I could research it but I know the number isn't high.
You are being super generous. That office dwells in Incel isolationism, they know full well that they are willfully opposed to the complete inclusion and agency of black male mutant characters. Bishop represents crumbs thrown to whomever may really care. If I'm wrong then please tell the last arc that had a black male mutant play a vital role in the plot resolution. . . . You hate to drop the "R", but how else do you count for the gross omission of any substantial black male mutants on the level of a Cyclops or Wolverine? This is why these books were dying prior to Hickman.
So I was just curious to see what I could find
Vita Ayala(writer)- Prisoner X, Upcoming Children of the Atom
Bryan Edward Hill(writer)-Fallen Angels
Ken Lashley(artist)- X-men Gold, Uncanny X-men
Larry Stroman-(artist) X-factor
Chris Cross(artist) X-man
Christopher Priest(writer) Deadpool
Jamal Igle(artist) Wolverine and Iron Fist
Khary Randolph(artist) Deadpool
Keron Grant(artist) New X-men,New Mutants, Weapon X, X-men unlimited
Reggie Hudlin(writer) X-men/Black Panther Crossover
This as far I got before I got tired. I am starting to think main X-men books(Uncanny,Adjectiveless) has never EVER had black writer. I don't think X-men line has black writer write more than 6 issues.
No, never, which is a crying shame in light of how the franchise postures as a superpowered metaphor for the experiences of persecuted and marginalized groups in real life; see Bendis's Uncanny X-Men early on where Cyclops gave a speech condemning police brutality (against mutants) and those that stood idly by and condoned it that could have easily been repurposed to the same end in the real world vis-à-vis African-Americans.
The spider is always on the hunt.
Maybe and I have to say Maybe because I have not looked at that run in 10 years-Prodigy in New X-Men Academy-where we saw a vision of him as President and how it didn't go too well.
Before him the black guy in X-Men 2099 pretty much sacrificing himself to save everybody.
Synch-his death saving racist classmates.
Add Ray Anthony Height-he did some of Wakanda Forever X-Men
he also had this to say years ago

You can see I have had Prodigy & Surge in my sights a while! So, when I talked about my idea for Prodigy & Synch going across the country solving mutant hate crimes that blew up here on Twitter? I was serious!
Agree. 110%
