Know what, the solution is fairly obvious - just take them out of the context of the X-men books.
If they don't have to interact with the older crew, they don't make them look much older.

Or hell - we just HAD a story arc of some of the kids spending a year in a pocket dimention while only 5 minutes passed for the adults.
just have them do that to the group as a whole - you can treat them as older without it effecting the ANAD cast.

But this shit is just making me less likely to keep reading the comics at this stage.
You can't convince me to buy an X-men book unless it features at least SOME of the younger cast in some capacity, and I'm getting tired of having to dread whether or not my favs get badly characterized or outright killed whenever they show up.

Worse: It's outright Fridging. The only real purpose it served was as a motivator for Scott and Logan. Half the back-up story that developed it was even just repeating scenes from the OTHER two stories.

Oddly enough, I'm actually *liking* Lin for the first time over in AoXM. Didn't have much use for Latour's silent Asian stereotype or Strain's judgmental and self-righteous take, but I like the balance Thompson and Nadler managed, with making her a little odd, but a lot more like someone who has a lot of empathy toward non-human sentience, who actually considers animals and plants, instead of just someone who has disdain toward people.

I suspect the point was that the writer's choice to have a teenage girl not just kill herself, but do so in the nude, was in questionable taste.

Ruth's position could be interpreted as sexualized with her raised leg and breasts facing the camera, but at least it isn't immediately gratuitous because the harsh red light saves the panel and kinda just makes it creepy (because Rachelle's colors aren't good for your art, right Sal?). So there you go, it's kinda up to interpretation. That's the bar. "Well she's posed like a pin-up model, but at least not lit like one!" Cigars, everyone.

They didn't have to do it like that.
there were more "tasteful" ways to go about it.

Blindfold still has her old speech pattern, so its good to know the writer doesn't even seem to have any decent grasp of the character's development before deciding to end it. But then, she at least got SOME story to her death - Poor Loa didn't even get that much.
