I mean, of course I'm happy she got to make an appearance at all (though, looking at Loa and Blindfold, getting to appear in an event is always a mixed blessing for X-kids), but man, sometimes I can't help but feel Mercury has to be one of the least popular New X-Men among creators these days. Sorry for ranting, it's just very frustrating.

Mercury definitely doesn’t get enough of a spotlight nowadays. I did like that she got a bunch of the “memorable” background cameos, I think Nick Bradshaw and Chris Bachalo loved drawing her and I kind of miss them on the X-Men, mostly Bachalo. I hope she gets to shine in a lead or even supporting role on an X-Men team.

Yeah, it's obvious that other than Glob, Manon, and Maxime, the Nextgen cover artist didn't know who was where in Age of X-Man. Mercury (also in the Nightcrawler book), and Blindfold (dead), shouldn't be there either.
